Has anyone found a good source for cheap, basic made to measure seat covers? I'm not looking for anything posh - just some "sacrificial" covers to go over the base cushions only on the hab seats, something that can come on & off easily and go in the washing machine.

I gave the cushions a clean the other day, and noticed the original fabric is just starting to wear a bit, would be good to cover them up before it gets any worse, to put off the inevitable eventual "proper" re-upholster! Many folks use cheap throws I know, but with 3 kids in & out of the seats all the time that would drive us nuts keep putting them back in place. Needs to be something that preferably zips round the cushion or ties on. Only needs to be something plain in a beige/biscuit colour, nothing fancy.

I have a pair of these which you are welcome to if they would be of use. I was given them by a mate who had brought them for a work van that was then written off. I have tried one on but wasn't that bothered, so they are sitting in a plastic bag in the spare room. Message me if you're interested and I'll post them on.

Lots of "Stretchy" covers for Car (rear) seats in cheap shops and online?. May be all you need?.

There was a company at Lincoln show that I got Cab seat covers from. But as far as I am aware they do not supply covers for other seats?.

Cheap button fastening duvet cover of your pattern choice.
Turn inside out and stitch one side and bottom to suit cushion size then turn correct side out.
Double sided so half the washing.
Or buy a double, stitch as above then cut in half......two matching covers.

There are so many sizes and shaped cushions in MoHo they would have to be custom made.
By the time you have cut, stitched and fitted a zip you might as well make quality ones, the materials the cheapest bit.

Thanks all, in particular SteveJ for his generous offer. I should have been a bit clearer - I said hab seats (which with hindsight sounds like cab with a typo! Doh!), I do mean habitation seats, i.e. the base cushions for the dinette seats in the back of the van, not the cab seats.

Alas Pappajohn, give me something easy like fixing electrics or rebuilding an engine and I'm fine. Give me anything involving a needle and thread and I'm utterly, utterly hopeless! I can't sew to save my life.

I shall find a solution. I do take the point about the material being the cheapest part though.

Would any of the loose covers made for domestic settees / sofas work? Another alternative might be to wrap the seats as if you were wrapping a parcel and (very very carefully) use a glue gun to stick the new fabric only to itself.

They may do. Shame I can't use my welder on it really, make life much easier.....

Actually, I've just had an idea. The 2 youngest kids drive us mad by constantly managing to push the base cushions of the dinettes out. We tried Velcro onto the seat base, that didn't work.

What I could do is get a cheap fleece throw, fix press studs to it and put press stud bases behind and in front & below of where the base cushions go - stretch the throw over it and hey presto, it covers the cushion and stops it sliding out of position....

Hmm, some experimentation required I think!

I can't help associating this with something only a Black Country resident would understand: In our local there's a chap who can get "chep shapeskin sate-covers" (y)

If you're watching the video fast forward to around 9 minutes to see how she's fitting the vinyl covering.

... but don’t miss the bit where they cut a new base for the seat :)
... true ... but I didn't want to highlight the 'embarrassing' saw cutting! :D
