As I mentioned in another thread on these things , the Amazon firestick is amazingIf the Amazon fire stick and fire box are anything to go by then i recon their Fire HD tablets will do the job..
From £79 here, depends on what size and spec you want.

No one has an old android phone, we are all iPod/pod/phone users....Another option would be an old Android phone if anyone in the family has upgraded and has an old one lying about. Used without a SIM card it is basically a small screen tablet but with all the app functionality.

The Kindle Fire isn't really a general purpose Android tablet. It is virtually hard wired into Amazon so if streaming videos and music is what you want then it is a good device at a good price but if you want it to do more then another device, such as the Hudl or Nexus 7 would be better.Does the Fire have access to all the Google Play apps? The only app I want to use at the moment is the GoPro App, if I can download that, I might consider the Fire. At the moment, favourite is the Lenovo Tab 2 8". Not sure on the quality of the non branded eBay ones, I'm sure they are fine, but I don't want to take a chance with one.
I have an iPad Air 2 for streaming, music and everything else, its just really to pair up with my GoPro, so I need to be able to download the Google Play GoPro app. GoPro app won't connect on my iPad because it is running ios9 ( beta) and GoPro won't support ios9 till its officially released. The Kindle Fire isn't really a general purpose Android tablet.
