we have refundable tickets for the tunnel, and will be possiblt changing dates for a few months later.
how does it work if the dates you change to are more expensive or less expensive than original dates, do the they just refund the difference or vice versa

Exactly that, yes.

I think you'll find without exception the dates you choose will be more expensive so you have to pay the difference.
That's how it works for me anyway

Fares always seem to increase in price as you approach the departure date. That's why we try to book as early as we can, once outline plans have been made. Never gone for refundable tickets - Tesco Partner scheme doesn't allow it - so may be different. Tried reading the T's & C's?

changed mine twice during summer holidays, no admin fee but new dates were both slightly more money,

Never had a refund for a cheaper crossing but do have to pay if the new crossing is more expensive.
