Hi folks , we are in the market for some new chairs for the van, can anyone reccomend some will need to recline and not to heavy, we have two kampa ones now and not really comfortable.

Dukdalf Aspen with optional leg rest. Dutch made, very light, can recline almost flat. We use them for eating, relaxing and sunbathing. Not cheap but last for years

Do what we did, come on any Fun Rally, you get to see & try all the various makes at any price when they are assembled in the Fun Marquee.
I thought that the Kampa chairs were going to be the ones for us, until we sat on them in the funster tent.(y):giggle:Saved on yet another expensive mistake, discovered Its not always the dearest that are the best.
Be careful,if like us, they can become like shoes & handbags to the ladies, must haves at the time, but no room to put "the collection" in the MH.:giggle:

Another vote for Dukdalf. They’ll outlast you.

Hi take a look at the Isabella range very well made and comfy we’ve tried loads over the years and these are The best we have had .

Wow! You’re not joking when you say ”not cheap”!!
The reason we got the Dukdalfs was because the last two pairs of chairs we had broke after about 2 years use. Mind you they were half the price and twice the weight of the Dukdalfs. And they did not recline as far.

Spoke to a couple of Funsters who swore by them and had theirs 10 years. I even spoke to some caravanners who recomended them. And well recommended on the forum.

And they are a bit like Trigger's broom because you can buy most of the bits if they ever do break.

Folding seats are very much a personal choice in what the individual considers comfortable and in my opinion choosing can only be done by testing with your backside planted in various contenders for at least 5 to 10 minutes to get a good feel for it.
The present folding chair I use suits me but Yvette finds it uncomfortable after a short while, while with her chair it cuts me across the back of the thighs in minutes but she loves it.

Remember ever arse is different and one pair of shoes will not fit everybody. :giggle:

When we were looking for new chairs a couple of years ago we certainly found that bums are all different sizes \ shapes so it's a must to try before you buy.
We also thought it was better to get a chair with individual feet rather than a continuous bar between the legs as it's easier to get it to "balanced" on rougher ground.
After measuring up where they would be carried in the motorhome we went for these -

We got them here as they have a local outlet so we could try before you buy -
Broken Link Removed
when they had a further discount offer on buying two.

We've found them very comfy for our, eh butts, and a good height for also sitting at our folding table.

We also have a pair of Outwell Kenai bought last year from Camping World. We find them the most comfortable we have had. (They are currently in use in the Garden)
Second best were Lafuma (cant remember the model but had a leg rest for one of them which Mrs Colpot says was very comfy.)

There was a post the day, ok it was last year (but this year doesn’t exist , somebody had bought chairs from Lidl.
These chairs were in stock last week at around £29.

I have frequently seen requests on here for recommendations for lightweight but robust comfortable reclining chairs. So a quick heads up...

Lidl has some coming up on offer on Thursday (11 April) that might fit the bill. They have a powder-coated aluminium frame and weatherproof UV resistant covers.

We are planning to replace the pair we bought circa 15 years ago in 2004, which are of almost identical design but actually came from Aldi! After travel far and wide, and much hard use, they are still reasonably serviceable, but we think it might be sensible to get some new ones whilst they are available.

We like them because they are comfortable and flexible - ideal for relaxing with a footstool, or for eating at a table - we paid £24.99 for the original ones, so £29.99 now seems pretty good value for the quality.

There are other furniture items and cushions that match.

So here is one of our original circa 2004 chairs and one of the new ones purchased on Thursday, using £10 discount

Recommend OUTWELL.

Looked at many chairs 4 years ago and bought Outwells and have been very happy with them.

- Not silly money
- Wider than some
- Well built and comfortable
- Very compact when folded
- Can be used to recline/relax/and eat at table(but not horizontally)
- Light weight
- Proven to last at least 4 years - used every day for 4 month+ a year and still like news

What ever you get make sure they fit easily in whatever space you store then in - some I tried where just to tall to fit upright in the boot when folded. We tend to use them even if stopping for lunch so ease of storage and remove very important.

After years of trying all sorts, we have had a couple of Isabella chairs for about 3 years.. Although not in the same league price wise as the Dutch option, they get 10 / 10 from us for durability, comfort and height
Two many chairs are far too low to comfortably eat a meal at a table

As an aside, as most chair makers make their seats too low ( below what is considered normal ), why don't the people who make the table make them a bit lower to match !

Outwell Kenai, comfortable, light and not expensive compared to some. Think we paid about £120 for a pair.

Wait for a Rallye or Warner's show. Road test lots and feel free to take a look at Funsters chairs they already have.

I got the Lidl chairs last year, very light and have been fine. As was said above they were in stock last week.

Knowing you I’m a little surprised you are that caring how Mrs T o T backside is on her chair ??

Another vote for Dukdalfs, we have the Dukdalfs Dynamic a bit more expensive but a lot stronger. Had ours since 2002.

Agree,,had two for 12 years and wish i had bought the same again instead of the Isabellas. BUSBY.

Oooh, you are a brave man, I'm sure Mrs T o T will be more than happy to offer her opinion on your slur of my character when she finishes work later,
although I'm a little worried that she might well concur with you. :frowny:
