Hi guys,

My Lunar has a wind out canopy, but I can’t identity it.

picture shows the only marking I can see on it, unless they are hidden.
When wound out it sits very low and there are no poles with it, should there be some?

can anyone ID.

thanks in advance

Siblo

Are the poles, or leg's, not built into the front bar, and as you wind it out, you unfold them 👍

The legs should be folded into the front cover as you open the canopy and are telescopic.
Don't use it fully out without support, the van wall isn't designed to carry than much weight.

The canopy is an Omnistor, now Thule. As others have said, the attached legs are clipped inside the front bar. It is not self supporting and the legs must always be down when in use.
If you need detailed advice, speak to Hillview awnings, they are Omnistor specialists and very helpful.

Thanks Guys,

Perfect answers after only a few minutes.

I’ll check tomorrow if there are in fact fold out legs.

Thanks again, love it here.

Don't know who's put the ticker on it but its not original ... possibly to cover up some damage?

The legs will be inside the front edge of the canopy, wind it out around 2 ft and then have a fish around, on ours there are clips which you lift and then slide each leg away form the centre to shorten it a bit so you can then manoeuvre it out and downwards, mind your foot though in case you forget and the loosened part drops down quickly!

Thanks for the extra info and tips.

so the sticker is just a sticker and not the brand? Supose it could be an old dealer badge.

Once you've got it rolled out and properly supported by the legs have a look up inside the casing as there may be a Omnistor \ Thule label there.

This is ours -

Hi Guys,
Following the advice here I managed to find the legs, and everything seems to work, also found an ID sticker, not worked out what it means yet.

what’s the best stuff to clean the aluminium struts, they show signs of corrosion.

TIA

Siblo

Green plastic Brillo pad from the kitchen works well enough unless they’re really pitted in which case you’ll need something more aggressiv.

It appears the sticker did relate to the awning name and wasn’t added at a later date .It didn’t look an original label and like Minxy Girl i thought it was added afterwards so didn’t search for the name lol
Good tip from Gellyneck about the ID label . I didn’t know that 👍🏻

One very important bit of advice. These are very susceptible to wind causes damage. Always peg it down. There are holes in the base of the leg to do so, but they are not strong enough if the wind gets up. If the canopy gets blown over your roof not only will it be a write off, it will also probably tear holes in the side of your motorhome. Buy some storm straps and some heavy duty pegs. Even with storm straps we never leave ours out overnight or when we go away from the motorhome for a while.
