Canfranc Station

Maybe of interest to anyone who has visited Canfranc Station at the Spain side of the Somport tunnel.

The article does not explain why it was built along with the station in the first place.
At the time it was built the French and Spanish railways had different width gauge railway tracks and this was a meeting point of the two different tracks. Passengers and freight would arrive on a train from say France, get off that train and board a train on Spanish rails to continue their journey on into Spain, and vice versa.

I found it accidently on a mountaineering trip back in the early 1980's when it was totally empty and abandoned.
Incredible place!

Anyone been and has knowledge of camping there or parking if not. It’s on my bucket list of places to visit. We’ve camped just down the road but wondered what it was like there & if anything else to do in the village.

Driving through there in April/May, might have to arrange a stop, looks amazing.

Stayed Canfranc May last year.
Free aire at the end of the town.

Wasn't finished when we went through in September when we were on the way to Aragon for the last MotoGP. Once across the river the whole area was fenced off.

Didn't see anywhere to park up a motorcycle let alone a camper/moho.
