So I am interested in this Talbot however the overcab Sides have been replaced but the rest looks original?
I am confused as to why the two side panels which would have had windows in would have been cut out?
What do people think?

Possibly had damp problems and replaced the panels. Might be worth asking the seller ?

So if its nice and dry it may have just been a repair?

Thank you, my next question and I appreciate no one has seen or heard it but value wise what do people think? its 1992 new MOT 116000 miles. its original inside so a bit dated but all in all will do us and I am looking at trading my car for it. I wont hold anyone to ransom over the price but I cant fnd another Voyager2 with the same spec to compare it with. It has two new batterys and solar panels on the roof. needs a wiper motor bu hey are cheap enough. Obviously I will check best I can for nay damp or water ingress and have a good poke around for any rot.

Thanks in advance for any ball park figures on value.

Another possible reason would be front end damage and that is why the bonnet, bumper and front wings looks similarly new.
Possible write off and repaired ? Dont know if that shows up anywhere else and a new v5 was issued in july 17
Failed MOT for a missing bolt in 2018
13 failures in 2017 all failry minor but the history is weird.
Well worth getting a free app called vehicle smart then looking at the vehicle milage and trying to work out how for a few years they stuck either 2 miles or -13 miles on the clock then 106,212 the next year.

Something not quite right and would need explaining. One year it lost 68,543 miles. A new odometer would normally be an answer but this is all over the place.

Best of luck

Quite likely a window got damaged and replacements were not available.
A friend of mine had a Herald with over cab side windows and when one got damaged no replacements could be found he blanked them off.
With a van that age be aware there are quite a few essentials that are no longer available as new replacements, such things as headlamps, cables and hoses spring to mind.

The revenue weight (MAM) is recorded as 2600kg I would have thought that it should be higher than that or there would not be much payload (if any!)
The side panels on the overcab have been replaced. The originals would have had windows in them. The colouring of the habitation area looks to me to be from an earlier elddis (pre92 uplift)

Can't tell by just the photos, but looks like two different vans joined together to me

There are lots to check😳
Engines are getting like Rocking horse poo
Check everything works👍
Approx prices
Fridge £500
Hot water boiler £450
Heater £500
Loo £350
Buy a damp meter and check all around roof light's,windows, doors lockers and floor and up in that windowless luton, any reading above 15 needs looking into.
Price wise 4/7 k if everything works but at the moment people are asking the higher price Next year Covid prices will fall then it will become hard to get your money back.

Check where the red coloured roof joins the aluminium strip dividing the red and white on the drivers side as it looks uneven so may be lifting. If it is, it may let water in.

I noted that the blue stripe on the cab part is different on each side, and the stripe should continue along the doors and front wings.

The add says the front has been re sprayed I have now HPI'd the van, the MOT history shows the miles being out but never written off however it shows as an express 1000p which I thought was the small van derived camper?

Just found these pictures on the web which will show you what some of it should look like however this is an earlier version I think.

Dealt with quite a few of those model Sevel vans 10 years or so ago. Bodies from stolen MHs grafted onto cabs originating as commercial vehicles that had also been built with rear spaceframe or Alko type chassis. A few bolts each side, tin snips, some mastic and a bit of fettling, and Bob's your Uncle. Citroen or Fiat cabs rebadged as Talbot or Peugeot to muddy the waters further, and vice versa.

Be very careful, in view of the coachstripe, mileage and jarring paintwork issues. Look closely at the rear of the cab from inside, and if you can carefully peel back any of the interior trim between the cab and coachbuilt body, check whethyer the cab was built as a MH conversion, or has had its rear panel and roof roughly cut out. Check the stamped VIN on the cab floor alongside the driver's seat. If it's nbot there, walk away. If it is, peel the carpet/underfelt back as far as you can, looking for signs of repainting, grinding, or the section of panel containing the number having been welded into the floor. Same on the underside of the panel, from beneath the van.

If it was a genuine commercial vehicle grafted to a different MH body, there may be no problem with the VIN, but some were front and back of two different vans, swapped around to add to the disguise and cloned onto yet another identity.

Not saying this one is definitely bogus, but there were several hundred flagged as of interest nationally, possibly more we didn't know about, and only about a third of those we did had been recovered when the job was shut down due to costs.

Golden rule about buying second hand - if you have any doubts - walk away - there is always another one in next week's paper.
If it 'feels' OK, fine, if you are asking questions........ ask your self why?
