Had an e mail this morning inviting me to obtain a quote for our motorhome, from a club that is for its members??

17/09/2019, value around 77000, Cat 1 Alarm, Cat 1, immobiliser, Cat 7 tracker (monitored) kept in a locked alarmed. Garage at bottom of garden. Mileage 6000 per annum, (hopefully) both retired clean licences full max no claims, no accidents or convictions.

£1265 and an extra £100 if I want to pay over twelve months. Obviously being a member really helps?? Or am I missing something.
Paid £422 last year with LV like for like or better cover.

Weird ours went the other way, we only pay £400 for a £100k van.

I have emailed for an explanation, Like your fuelly app impressive. We managed 10,000 miles in our first year avg 23 mpg

Wow, that IS expensive!

Did the quote include full breakdown cover (UK & Europe)?

I wonder if you will receive an explanation as a result of your enquiry?

As you are a caravan club member when you receive your renewal from LV It would it have better if you had requested a quote from the Caravan Club as they say will beat your renewal by £25 like for like

Sorry did not realise it was the Camping and Caravan Club

That's a joke ! , been a member of C&CC for the past 20 years & never used their insurance. They should stick to running campsites.

It’s alright quoting 2-300 pound but do you get for that, tell us.
I paid 445 for 2018 motorhome £45000, unlimited mileage and time in Europe and brake down.

But who's that with please? Just had our renewal quote for 2018 van £63000K, 5000 mileage NO NCB protection (want another £100+ for that) with Adrian Flux for £572 ish!!!! Must be better around surely!!?
Take care and stay safe

5000 miles pa, so no good for full timers. Worth getting a quote though.

Also there is quotezone whonwill do all the work for you.

Caravan Guard was half what C&CC quoted me. When I went bck to C&CC they gave me all sorts of BS but didn't lower their price so has anyone had the £25 discount they say they will beat any quote by?

Thats what we paid last year with Comfort, van valued at 75k but I did reduce the mileage to 6k.

Whith some of the cheap policies you need to make sure they are proper Motorhome policies a lot are just modified car policies which are not suitable for a Mororhome.

I used to use Scenic (part of Swinton group), but changed to Advance (both brokers). My insurance is up fro renewal 1st March. I'll give them a ring and report back 2020 it was £300 on a 2016 van value £45K Thatcham Alarm, Europe cover, new for old Full NCB protected. Had notification from the insurance company Ageas that we are still covered for Europe and they sent a "green Card" actually a sheet of white A4 paper stating we are covered.
I have separate cover for extended warranty and recovery including Europe with MB&G. Have used them fo 15 years on previous vans and found they pay up promptly and recovery is prompt also.

When trawling for alternatives, I had a quote from C&CC recently for £8173.89!! No, I had not entered details wrongly. Presumably a freak algorithm. But that was exceptional, and makes anyone switch off immediately. Got £375 elsewhere for similar cover.

I am staying with Safeguard. After 2 claims in 3 years, last one was £6.5k claim last year for storm damage I will be paying £528. C&CC quoted £1,141.

Last year they tried to put mine up a thousand pounds with nothing changed ,the only thing different was one one of us was over 80 ,I asked them if it was this that caused the rise but she said couldn't tell me but offered me at slightly less but went to caravan guard instead , still convinced it was age related increase

I had never thought of insuring a mh through the C&CC and after reading these posts, I don't think I will.
I insure mine through the C&MHC but it's interesting to know thoughts on other insurers.

I dont ever consider going with any insurance companys associated with clubs.i just dont understand where these companys get there prices from,i have just reinsured our motorhome and got it a third of the price i was quoted through a club insurance company and it was with exactly the same insurance company.

Me too. When we bought our new MH from the Newark MH company, we were offered CaravanGuard, but the quote included Recovery/breakdown. As it was a new Fiat based MH we were covered with breakdown for free, for the 3 tear warranty period, with the warranty, as are all UK purchased Fiat Motorhomes, so why would any one want an additional breakdown policy, at an additional cost with no added value or purpose?

I'm sure loads of new MH buyers fall for this one. It's the same with our Nissan Note (OK have a laugh, but it's OK for us), we take it for MOT & service annually with the local (ish) Nissan dealer and we get complimentary Nissan recovery AND a free £125 annual SATNAV map update. The two together make the service free of charge. Look around and go to the companies that specialise in MotorHome insurance, not the one's that specialise in running campsites (or not, according to your personal experience).

I meant to state that CaravanGuard would not take off the recovery, to reduce the price. This was in 2003. I've leaned a lot about insurance and warranty in the interim.
