It’s strange how quotes from one insurer vary so much. The quote we had for ours from the Caravan Club for our first year of ownership was the most competitive we found. The other insurers recommended by many were more costly, mainly it seems because good car driving record doesn’t count for no claims bonus on a motorhome policy. Ours is worth about £20k less than the OP’s vehicle, 6 months older, in storage, premium £500.

Had an e mail this morning inviting me to obtain a quote for our motorhome, from a club that is for its members??

17/09/2019, value around 77000, Cat 1 Alarm, Cat 1, immobiliser, Cat 7 tracker (monitored) kept in a locked alarmed. Garage at bottom of garden. Mileage 6000 per annum, (hopefully) both retired clean licences full max no claims, no accidents or convictions.

£1265 and an extra £100 if I want to pay over twelve months. Obviously being a member really helps?? Or am I missing something.
Paid £422 last year with LV like for like or better cover.
£189.00 fully com

CAMC insurance couldn’t get anywhere near our quote last year let alone beat it by £25.

I tried them and the C&cc , they seem out of touch site charges too , I have a Static caravan on a big Company site in Felixstowe Suffolk whilst trying to finalize a bungalow Purchase Ok we pay separate for Electric, hooked up to main sewer, works out , it's for 50 weeks works out £95 a week , can't see me getting c&cc or M/H & cc doing that for £95 aweek

I was with the Camping and Caravan Club Insurance for 7+ years and the price was good at around £250 for my Burstner Solano. When changing to the current Carthago just over 3 years ago they quoted me £5500 for the same cover. I tried a few alternatives and am paying just over £500 with Farmers Union for better cover.

Well I've tried the Caravan Guard and Comfort but because we have to park on a side street (cul-de-sac actually) that is fully covered with security camera's - they won't insure me!!!!???
So how are you all getting covered as I'm sure not all of you must have off road parking - or do you!!? ;-)

Just got a quote from C&MC £339 365 days European use no breakdown cover?? That’s for a non member, C&CC are missing something. Whilst I appreciate you get what you pay for and cheapest is not always the best, you find that out when you have a claim,

£1265 to £339 is a bit wide of the mark. Been a member for 17 years most disappointed renewal may well be in doubt this year.

Nice One. Hope it goes OK for you. I have been with them for 10 years now.

Sometimes it can take a while to get through on the phone (although even that was not too bad last time I rang) but they have consistently been the best value. I get quotes each year and sometimes its touch and go on price. If I ring them and tell them someone has undercut them, they have reduced my quote after a basic check on the cover.

The cover is quite basic but then that's what I want. No bells and whistles.

When we joined C&CC after buying first MH, gave them a call thinking they'd at least be competitive but sadly found their grip on reality was far removed from ours. Needless to say have found it far cheaper elsewhere every year. Having said that if we and every other member were having the same experience and fed this back to the club - which we certainly have never done - maybe things would change?

Me too. When we bought our new MH from the Newark MH company, we were offered CaravanGuard, but the quote included Recovery/breakdown. As it was a new Fiat based MH we were covered with breakdown for free, for the 3 tear warranty period, with the warranty, as are all UK purchased Fiat Motorhomes, so why would any one want an additional breakdown policy, at an additional cost with no added value or purpose?

I'm sure loads of new MH buyers fall for this one. It's the same with our Nissan Note (OK have a laugh, but it's OK for us), we take it for MOT & service annually with the local (ish) Nissan dealer and we get complimentary Nissan recovery AND a free £125 annual SATNAV map update. The two together make the service free of charge. Look around and go to the companies that specialise in MotorHome insurance, not the one's that specialise in running campsites (or not, according to your personal experience).

Fiat only give a 2 year warranty on the MH base vehicle (unless you purchase their 3 year extension). (y)

I checked out Martin Lewis and he advised giving 'MoneySupermarket.com' a look.
They gave me several quotes with none much over £300 and most below that figure. Now insured again with a subsidiary of LV.

C&CC rang me today after I had queried their rather expensive premium The best they could do was £529,
no breakdown cover no protected no claims, no legal protection. 180 foreign use. I again pointed out this was supposed to be a club for its members, yet the C&MC which I am not a member £339 with no Euro cover but could add that for £59.

I filled in a motorhome insurance comparison form last night, 2 calls so far this morning, 1 quoted over £200 more and the second confirmed my details and then put me on hold with the sales team, needless to say they won’t be getting a look in.

I don't get offended by 'silly' insurance quotes. My impression is that if they don't really want to take on the risk for whatever reasons they quote a figure well above the average. It would be easier I guess if they refused to quote but perhaps some individuals do indeed pay these inflated premiums.

Had another call earlier, £100 more than current with comfort plus an extra £100 excess.

I meant to state that CaravanGuard would not take off the recovery, to reduce the price. This was in 2003. I've leaned a lot about insurance and warranty in the interim.
I found that as well, and when I pointed out that their recovery did not cover my van 4t and 7m the lady had no answer 🤷‍♂
They have changed their recovery policy now though

Slightly off topic but C&MC were ridiculously expensive for van insurance so ended up at Safeguard, however the house is insured with them for longer unoccupancy if we're lucky enough to go abroad.
