Calais illegals....

We stick to Dunkirk - no problems or perceived prblems in 8 years.
Great for heading south and east, but not so handy Geoff, when disembarking at Calais/Coquelles, and heading south west. :(

We stayed at Sangatte Aire this time round, without any problems, but may try the Aire at Montreuil on the way back.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Frightening, could so easily have turned out bad :Eeek:

No violence no problem....count your blessings...you have a good life....they'r just looking for theirs....
They may be "looking for theirs" but they didn't care about the damage they did to the poor peoples van or the stress and anxiety let alone fear, that they caused.
No sympathy at all and they're lucky that the guy who owned the van didn't get tooled up and let them have it.
Ask yourself a question..."would you like them doing it to you"? Honestly, we would all say "No" and if it did I bet you'd be less than sympathetic.
Before anyone starts....I'm not a racist, I just fundamentally disagree with people taking the p*$$ the way these illegals do.

"Stopped at lidl and checked the van. 2 illegals had broken the garage door open" unless I am reading it wrong in which case I apologise.
Not at all, I cant see where that statement is. It seems I'm not visualising the whole statement, and I'm not on Facebook so cant check it out?

Thanks for adding that, makes more sense to the "damage" now !?

It does cause stress and anxiety following our encounter last summer with an illegal in our bike rack my wife will never stop at city europe or anywhere else close by.

I can't see the original link/thread? is this just me or? Kind regards, Ry

They got in somehow whether an unlocked door or by force!
The damage is to there personal space and peace of mind,it will play on them for a long time!
Absolutely.

Also, for those on here who do not have access to the Facebook post, please read as posted by the victim................

"kids are petrified bless them. They are both traumatised and can't calm down. Even worse, they have to sleep in our bed tonight because theirs is now dirty "

Apart from the damage, the whole experience wasn't acceptable at all. :(

Regards,

Jock. :)

Quite a tense and upsetting experience. I thought it was managed quite well, firm but clear voice, kept his kids out of the way and spoke in brief short sentences. Also overall kept a degree of distance and searched the vehicle before getting family back in. Glad he didn't 'kick them out'. No need for violence as the two guys were quite passive and compliant. Good example of what to do. Violence or threats made towards the guys could have turned it nasty.

Thankyou for enlightening us non-frackbook types, makes a lot more sense to the replies ?

& me.
I don't even drive past Calais .

I always use it even though I am heading towards Bordeaux & the Som port tunnel.

Would only use Dover Calais if I had pets (tunnel) then would not stop anywhere near Calais on the way back - or near any port.
Always use Newhaven Dieppe or ferry straight to Spain. Even the Spanish ports aren't free from migrants and have read that they might get on board and then conceal themselves during the sail back. So need to check lockers and underneath if you want to be sure.
Most seem to be compliant and calm when discovered and just accept that they will have to try again.
