Your reply fills me with dread Barry, I don't have any medical issues so lets hope its a straightforward exercise on their part.

Hi Sandra, Charlie is doing well we had her over the weekend and for the first time we have her on the run up to Christmas taking her home On morning of 25th, Christingle and carols Christmas Eve and a houseful including our god child now 19 and at Uni, Charlie idolises her so will be a great few days. (She still remembers looking for the drone) She gave me stick this weekend for leaving the toilet seat up for gawds sake.

Treasure your moments Stewart and have a great xmas :xThumb:

With DVLA it's pot luck anything from one week to 4 or 5 months.
Just renewed my passport, impressed with the passport office but I might have just been lucky, took 6 days ( 4 working days).

I had my 70th birthday, C1 medical, received licence, and collected 4.5T van, all within 7 days (February this year).

let my c1 go, just downrated the van back to 3500, didn't want to take the risk C.O.P.D.

That’s it, medical form completed, optician completed the eye sight reqirement, posted today (signed for at £2.11p) wonder how long it will take over the festive season. Fingers crossed.

Got mine in a few days...no medical issues though..hope it comes soon:)

Unless the expiry date is imminent don't wish it too soon as it runs the next 3 years from date of issue not expiry date, at least on second renewal after 70, although I am sure my renewal at 70 was from expiry date. Maybe they changed the rules, without regard to Parliament.

It runs out on your 70th Birthday lol.you can carry on driving providing you have sent your renewal papers in.

Mine took a couple of weeks, I had train booked so enclosed copy of the booking maybe, that helped or they were running a help the aged week.:xThumb:

I am seventy in August, how early can I have the medical and apply for my new licence with C1. It is my intention to be out of the country in August.

90 days before your 70 is the earliest you can apply, doctors and eyesight report are valid for 4 months from the date of issue.

Yes, I applied 90 days before my birthday last August. Just have to suck it up and not going abroad until sorted. I can still drive the MH in this country as it’s 3500kg but I made the choice to apply for C1.
I was initially refused the insurance renewal when it came up in November as I correctly replied No to the question do you have a valid driving licence. However DVLA told me to tell them that I was driving under section 88 of RTA and when I rang them back with this information, after a bit of “hold on a minute, I have to check”, the renewal was put through.

10 day turn round for mine..BUSBY.

I think as long as there are no medical issues and the form has been filled in correctly they are quick.

Simple and straight forward they do quickly. Anything out of the ordinary takes time, a lot of time.

I can't believe how grown up Charlie looks now.

If you go to the post office and get your forms it will explain everything .I failed my first test, bloody tread mill and appealed straight away ,i then had to go for a pressure test which involved cardiac machinery without exercise .I rang the Hospital explained i was going away in 3 weeks for two months and they told me not to worry they gave me the test the day before i left ,telling me it will at least 2 months before the info gets through the system and whilst on appeal you are allowed to drive even abroad. I rang the DVLA and they confirmed that was the case .The day i came home my licence was on the mat delivered the day before and valid for the next 3 years also included my licence fee back .Needless to say. woken up next morning with my first hangover in 30 years LOL

My application is with the DVLA now. Could have been sooner but the surgery cocked up the form filling. My birthday is Feb 23. Just waiting and will update when it arrives. No medical issues. Mike
