Hi all,

I want to fit some Remifront cab blinds to my van.
Supplied from Jacksons in the UK, the price (windscreen and 2 sides) is £657. Very expensive!
The EU price is typically £100 less, and p&p is only 15 euros.

But, I imagine that they are quite delicate and could get transit damage.

Has anybody bought similar things from the EU? work out OK? I'm just concerned about problems, for example damage or missing items.

If you're interested, here are some links (my van has the rain and light sensors):
Jacksons Leisure
EU supplier 1
EU supplier 2

The second link has a very good 'trusted shops' rating, and don't forget the EU prices are euros.

Thanks in advance!

We often buy accessories from Germany especially & try to use Paypal checkout for added Buyer Protection but watch that it uses your credit card rate not their own that it may default to as not a favourable rate.

And dont forget customs might just add that £100 + in duties and vat

£480 + £12 postage on eBay.
Not for the one with the rain/light sensors, Magnum Motorhomes (the seller) don't stock them. Unfortunately.

I had a replacement for the Rapido front blind (L_H), Came via The UK Agents. It was so well packed it took longer to unpack than fit!!. (well a bit of an exaggeration  ) Biggest issue was it took 3 months to obtain!!.

Why are you worried about them getting damaged in shipping, probably already been shipped halfway around the world from China.

I've bought loads of things from Europe, saved £120 on my Clarion Stereo, £60 on Froli Stars, £1000 on two e-bikes not to mention 50 grand on 3 Hymers. :D

And, didn't you buy a caravan from Germany in 1990?

Not motor home related but I once bought a fish tank light from Germany six foot long and contained eight florescent tubes. No issues with damage, just ask supplier to wrap carefully.

Just to follow up on this.

I ordered the windscreen and 2 side blinds from the supplier above, and the 2 side blinds arrived damaged.

The damaged items were returned, and replacements were sent. Unfortunately they only send one side, and it (again) arrived damaged.

The damaged blind is again being returned, this time for a full refund.

Due to shipping from Germany, and the replacement only being sent after the receipt of the return, this has taken 1 month and been a right pain in the arse. And I still don't have my side blinds.

The issue (I think) is that the side blinds are large, flat and not robust. The courier (DHL) has, on both occasions, stacked other things on top of them. This has damaged the blinds. And, no additional packaging was added by the retailer.

It remains to be seen if a UK seller can get them to me in 1 piece.

?

I bought a 6ft LED strip light, delivered all the way from China. I half expected it bent in half on arrival but it was in perfect condition inside a chuffing great long cardboard tube :D
The van driver must have been spitting feathers :D

And remember....... always open them before driving
( I only kniw this because i have warning sticker on my B pillar) ?

I don't have a sticker so I don't need to open any of the blinds while driving. it certainly beats that stupid sun visor, much more effective at reducing screen glare ……
