Even though it’s not a MHF meet, we are here, in beautiful Brecon at a C&CC rally, representing the Bristol Branch of the Welsh Hooligans.
We’ve already got down with the locals and have eaten a bag of Welsh cakes - apparently “the best in Brecon (and Wales)” Clearly added as an afterthought
I’ve danced to a very good Welsh rock band, who played a few English songs in between songs by the Stereophonics and some bloke called Max Boyce. I was grateful not to hear yet another rendition of Delilah
We had a lovely meal in Brecon today, and our Welsh Hooligans have kept, as ever, a welcome in the hillside.
They are off on a canal boat trip tomorrow, but the boat was fully booked, so we aren’t able to join them (the weather’s looking grim, so it’s with a light heart that I shall wave them off from the wharf)
It’s 70s dress code tomorrow night, so while they’re freezing their Welsh rarebits off on the boat, I shall be scouring Brecon’s finest charity shops for bell bottoms/ leg warmers / platform shoes.
I have a fall back though - I’ve packed a denim jacket, so will wear that with jeans - double denim = very 70s!
We are, as usual, having a blast!

Well, the charity shops didn’t beckon in Brecon after all!
We went on a lovely cycle ride, along the towpath to Talybont on Usk.
We stopped for a photo opportunity in the way ….
Funsters, this is a typical WH outing. Stuart at the wheel, always a steady pair of hands (until he hits the Bacardi…), Rob keeping the ladies company, (whilst said ladies were quaffing wine and scoffing Pringles), and Ray shouting obscenities from the stern at the very kind English girl taking their photo and casting aspersions on her home country!
We carried on cycling to Talybont on Usk for a drink in the White Hart before cycling back.
We didn’t see the good ship Rhiannon again, so we’ll find out tonight if they got back safely - hopefully they didn’t go any further East and risk being handcuffed by the Border Force!
