Peugeot Boxer 2002
Ok,
I have little to offer this forum at the moment as my knowledge is zero on campervanning and mechanics. The van I have is a Boxer Vivago 2002. It started blowing black smoke, lost power and upon getting to my home, the bottom blew out of my engine with bits of casing and oil everywhere. After containing the slick, I realised that my van was in a bit of trouble.
I have friends who tell me there are plenty of 1.9 engines out there, but I'm unsure which ones will fit. I have some questions if you can take the time to answer, I would be grateful.

1. Am I able to get a bigger cc engine to slot in or do I have to change lots of other stuff to make it fit?
2. if no to the above, how can I find a compatible donor engine that will slot straight in.

The engine I have access to is from a 306 but it seems to have lots of wires going to the front of the engine where mine doesn't? (be gentle)
below is the donor car with the red around the electrical bit and the other my vans engine....

thankyou in advance

Bob

I've no experience of swopping engines, but I think for simplicity, you'd be better making a straight swop with the same engine and the one in the car is almost certainly a different engine.
Excel Engines above seem to know what they're doing and could be you best option ?
Good luck sorting it out, let us know how you get on 👍

Funny story is I knew one of the XUD designers a couple of decades ago it was great to be able to ask Him all about the engine he was involved with designing.

Try Manda campers on the number below. They are Peugeot boxer engine specialists and keep second hand and recon units in stock.

Black smoke would indicate turbo failure. Yes it is a bolt on item, however, if it had imploded bits may have made it into the engine and caused carnage.

If you read the op original post that is what has happened🙄

Thank you for that, I was trying to explain that it may just be the turbo, would account for casing and lot of oil. If the bottom or sump of the engine had blown out all the oil would be gone and the engine would have seized long before he could have parked up. If the engine has an intercooler the damage may just be a replacement turbo and a clean up. Vast saving over an engine replacement.
