OK I know we use very little gas so over the year and a half a 6kg bottle of propane has lasted us the price rise is bearable. However I have just replaced said bottle which eighteen months ago cost £20. It is now £31!

I think I will buy a cow and stuff the cooker feed hose up its arris. It must be cheaper.

I exchanged a 6kg Calor propane for my son two weeks ago at a main Calor distributor and that gone up from around £20 to over £30.

My static has the 47kgs bottles which were £65 then they went up to £80 a few months ago, then at the start of last month went up to £90, so far it’s been mild so only just started to put any heating on. No doubt if gas prices come down then the price of theses bottles will stay the same !!!

Just swapped our 6kg……£34.99!! :shake:

A 6kg bottle holds 12 litres of gas.
That would cost around £7.50 to refill with LPG.
You are having to pay for collection and delivery of the bottle plus the price of the gas

That's true but if he's only going through 6kg in 18 months there's no point spending £500 having a single 6kg gaslow bottle fitted.

At £25.75 a Flogas bottle will cost him £1.43p a month. How long would it take to recoup the cost of a £500 refillable installation?

Agree 100% However 6kg in 18months.
Does not seem very much.

Paid £49+ for a 13kg Calor Propane last week. It has certainly gone up in price quite considerably this year.
The prices this year now include a Cylinder Delivery Surcharge, which at the moment is just above £4 . That is with Flo Gas, don't know what Calor add.

Safefill bottles are around £200 and you can remove it and sell it when you have finished with it for probably more than he paid for it

Hi all… do many of you use safefil? Just curious as to price, ease of filling etc. we have original heavy calor so as relative newbies to mo-going may consider changing. 🙂

Just to clarify some points raised above;

I use a local supplier, Rectory Gas. Always cheaper than Calor and during the great Calor bottle shortage they always had bottles.

Eighteen months does seem a long time for a 6kg bottle to last but I keep records and know it is correct. We use the gas mainly for boiling the kettle when off grid and reheating prepared food. Only in the last couple of weeks have we used the gas for heating in the evenings.

Refillable bottles are not ideal for us as nowhere around Toadifact Towers has filling points.

At the lincoln show a 6kg bottle was around £29.30 as I recall, and they were delivering to Van's for that.
I was just curious of the prices as I have an empty 3.6kg bottle at home which was £23.60 to exchange. I wanted to use it for an external cooker instead of the camping gas bottle my son gave me.which are around £40 o_O

Definitely ------ and I'm going to have to use it shortly.
The gas ran out overnight.
We've never actually run out the gague shows empty when we still have about,1/3 to 1/4 left. Then again the heating is diesel so it's just hot water and the fridge.
