Hi can anyone recommend a suitable guide book on the best Aires in France.
Many thanks

We use camper contact app and book which covers all Europe. A lot of people like All the Aires, partly because it's printed in English! It's called All the Aires but certainly isn't all of them!

I can't vouch for it personally, but looks interesting.

Only trouble with books/maps are they get outdated so quick. Probably best get the app which will be updated regularly. Can always get the books out of the library when they are open.

Books are nice to browse but can get outdated quickly.
Quite a few apps available, like campercontact which give a bit more genuine reviews from people using them. If you have a smartphone try searching and downloading a few. see what you think.

For Aires with a charge try Camping Car Park. They have also taken over some ex municipal sites often near small towns or villages.

Park 4 night and search for sites.
Along with camper contact should give you everything.

You should be able to navigate this site within little basic French and the help of Mr Google.
Lists aires in loads of countries including just over 9,000 in France and nearly 5,000 in Germany

I use all the apps such as park4night, campercontact etc, but also use All the Aires book (s). A book is much easier to use rather than fiddling with a small screen, and being able to look at a large map showing everything in an area is far better. As soon as I find anything that looks to be in the right area I use satellite view and street view to look at the locality and the entrance.
I usually only buy the books every other year.

Generally use apps but we do also buy one of the French aires guides from a French supermarket most years. Prefer the Guide National (published by Le Monde du Camping Car magazine) to the Guide Officiel. Not a great fan of All the Aires tbh.

I agree. That is an app that is often overlooked in discussions on available information for Aires.

There is 'The Best Aires in France' which is published by Alan Russel. I have not used it personally.

He also runs a website

motorhomingfrance.co.uk

which publishes a very informative monthly newsletter which has up-to-date info on Aires, including new ones, as well as other info on law, driving and events.

The newsletter by e-mail is well worth registering for, for free.

I have last year's edition of this. Excellent little book. I believe the photos and maps have been improved for this year. It's written by the guy the also writes this free website.
