Look I know that few would describe me as svelte or lissom, but I am not exactly a troll either. So why am I chucking my third pair of shorts in the bin because as I disembark from the driving throne I catch my shorts on the effing handbrake and rip them to bits.

So dear Fiat. Move your bleeding handbrake to the dashboard or send me more shorts.

Has anyone got any even remotely sensible suggestions re the positioning of the poxy handbrake? Apart from less baggy shorts - which as I have intimated - is not an option.

How about finally 'growing up' and ditching your school shorts and graduating to wearing 'big boy' trousers (as in age not size!).

Fiat has clearly felt your pain; 2022 Ducato's have an electric brake which will make swiveling the drivers seat easier and of course reduce torn shorts syndrome! So Fiat do care .;)

I have tried the Kobran extender and that was ok but still caught me out exiting the cab ,so I bought a rare spares fold down and that was great not cheap but is well made and worked a treat no more shorts ripped 🥸

I hope not. We had an electronic brake on a car once. Sold the car. It was the device of Satan. It may work with an automatic but on a manual it was impossible to do a hill start. A truly terrible thing.

Oh dear, something else to fail miserably then deny all knowledge of a fault.

Electronic parking brakes have improved a lot in recent years, certainly the VW ones I have experience of are excellent

You need a drop off handbrake which drops the handle down when handbrake is on i had one in my old relay van.

So it's my fat arse that is the problem?
No !! Rear brakes need adjusting at the drums !!
Then the handbrake cable underneath, so that 5 clicks puts the handbrake full on.
Shorts intact !!
Mitch.

Interesting and I can see that might be the case on a manual. I have an auto car and the electric brake has been superb. I am about to order an Auto Ducato PVC so fingers crossed.

Hang on..... Doesn't that defeat the object of a handbrake extender.
People fit them because they can't reach the lever in the first place.

'Drop Down' position is for when you are ' Parked - Up' and the handbrake is 'on'; pull the Pin and no problems. Unfortunately, filling - up at the Gas Station etc., will still cause you to have ripped pockets!
