I had an email from Sanef drop into my inbox last week, you can now get a transponder for Spanish and Portuguese motorways. My husband is thrilled, we have had a French one for a while and I bought the Spanish one as an early Christmas present!!

Yes sad I know!!! No more joining the shortest queue at the peage only to find the bloke in front has dropped all his change on the floor and can't open his door to pick it up as he is parked too close to the machine and has to shimmy over ........ need I go on!!!

Im thrilled every time we pass a toll booth on a parallel road. We never have to stop and we laugh with gay abandon at the rich fools throwing their money away. Aaaaaaaaah, ha, ha, ha, har!!
Popcorn time everyone!

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
I’ve told you before, I’m tired of popcorn and have switched over to cheese nibbles. They soak the beer better as well. :)

I use the French one, brilliant.

But for Spain, few queues and

  • €5* active usage fee for the month in which the tag is used (*subject to local tax)
Makes it more expensive on top of the annual charges

€10 Application Fee
€6 a year Account fee
€20 Deposit

I do drive a lot in Spain but not worth the extra. Sometimes its only a return airport trip.

Eurotunnel have the following offer.

Exclusive offer

  • Free tag application (save €10)
  • €6* annual fee for the first year of subscription, save 50% on the annual fee from the second year onwards. Only €3* instead of €6
  • €20 security deposit for the tag - fully refundable
  • €5* active usage fee for the month in which the tag is used (*subject to local tax)
  • Please note the offer only applies to the purchase of one tag.
But you have to have a booking or FT account

I want one. Don't care if it causes other people to want to eat popcorn. It gets stuck in my teeth anyway. Enjoy! M

For France:

On the advice of other funsters, I got an ATMB tag this year.
No application fee
No annual fee
€1.60 monthly charge just for the month it is used
€20 refundable deposit but I believe they often have offers to waive this.

You get access to an online fully itemised invoice and payment is taken from the pre registered credit card.

No good if ya over 3500kg.

In theory, but Sanef don't ask for a V5 copy when you apply for the tag, and if their auto barriers let you through on Classe 2 every time because you're <= 3 metres high it's very tempting to get a tag anyway.

Or so I'm told

We're over 3500kg but our ATMB tag works fine. Before we got it we always got charged classe 2. We're under 3 metres tall - don't know if that makes a difference.

ATMB appears to be €16 per year at the moment. Lets hope an offer comes up.

It’s 16 € if you take annual pass but 1.60 € per month used if you take that option if not intending to use very many months.
