I do not understand the bit about being for vehicles 'not included in the official fares'

Also the surcharge from Venice seems low in comparison to Ancona and Bari.

ANEK is part of Superfast, so it's highly likely that they will also surcharge, and Minoan will probably follow. Not sure they have a lot of choice really.

I don't know about all that, but prices are going up and all travel companies will need to raise prices or go bust. Consumers will have to make a choice.

Anek-Superfast are part of a joint venture sharing the Italy Greece route but I think they are still separate companies.

I'm sure Anek surcharges will be along soon along with Minoan.

I remember when they all had fuel surcharges in various ways back in the early 2000's in tiny small print at the bottom of their web pages, something like €15 per person and €15 per vehicle iirc.

We purchased our tickets prior to this announcement, Bari - Igoumenitsa, Piraeus - Heraklion return and Patras - Bari. That's an extra €108.00 plus any additional costs for Heraklion return.
