As the tittle suggests we are looking for a hair dryer that will dry hair.
We are planning some long jaunts and my partner is worried she will have hair like ken Dodd all the time, not a problem for me,👩‍🦲
Many thanks paul.

Most say they are all rubbish. Ann uses the babyliss 'big hair' it's a lower wattage of 750w and there is an even lower setting of I think 350w.
It's mains though so you'll need a 1000w inverter and decent battery set up.

No such thing, tried a couple in our early nieve days.

A towel will work far better, no such thing as a 12v hairdryer that works.

Don’t waste your money , there absolutely useless .
Best solution is to invest in a decent bank of batteries and solar
And install an inverter
Or stop somewhere with EHU

As others have said, 12v hairdryers are a waste of time and money….!

(there seems to be a common theme running through this thread…….!;))

As others said no such thing You would get as much heat as blowing on your wife's hair yourself.

Get a low power mains travel hairdryer for £10 from Argos. That is the cheap bit. You will also need to buy an inverter to run it off the 12V, have at least two leisure batteries and enough solar panels to recharge them. The good news is that if you are only using the inverter for hair drying you can use a cheaper modified sine wave one. The alternative is to use a campsite with EHU on the days that she wants to wash her hair, or try to see if she can get used to using gas fired drying tongs.

We have a low powered Argos hair dryer (wife's use only) which runs at a maximum of 1200W from a 2000/4000W inverter running on two 95Ah leisure batteries which are recharged with 250W of solar panels on the roof.

Totally agree with Badknee post above. Head out the window would be better or the heater vent on the dash.
12v as well as been useless are a serious threat to your van electric’s

Low powered mains hair dryers are a minimum of 700w if you want any kind of heat. With 12v, that's nearly 60amps. The cable would be really inflexible and would probably need croc-clips to connect directly to a battery as most cigarette sockets would melt! Hence 12v hair dryers are extremely weak and blow cold and next to useless.

As everyone mentioned, the only real solution is a low power mains travel hair dryer and an inverter.

My wife just uses the dashboard air vents with the aircon on. Not great for styling, but it does dry reasonably quickly.

Inverter I would have to buy and pay to be fitted and I am sure others must be the same, not all clever. If it’s a trial run and not sure if it’s what you want it can be better to buy something like a generator as it’s easy to use and easy to sell if it’s not what you want. If you have lots of money and don’t matter other options are available.

I know it's not the same thing, but I have a heat gun from Lidl that is battery-powered, and works well enough. It has a 20V 2Ah (40Wh) battery, so that's equivalent to 40/12 = 3.3Ah from a 12V battery. They do 4Ah batteries too. I'm not saying it's suitable as a hairdryer, just saying that the technology is there if someone wants to innovate. At the moment it needs a mains charger, but it's a modest requirement so a 12V charger version is quite feasible. The mains charger is 65W, so even a drinks-can-size 150W inverter would do, plugged into a cigarette-lighter socket.

I've got short hair so just towel and air dry in the summer. If I need it dry quicker I just run my Babyliss gas tong through it.
