enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
Nice pub stop, again from Moonfruit wildcamping. ...

It's free to stay here but there is an understanding that you will use the bar or restaurant The moonfruit listing says it's £10 per night but the staff member says that they no longer charge as the majority of 'campers' use the pub anyway. Does t look to be any facilities other than parking and prob use of toilets when open. Parking is reasonably flat, all grass. Not overlooked by adjacent properties.

I will add more info tomorrow after tonight's stop, though on first glance the pub looks nice and clean with helpful and pleasant staff.

MisterB. Dave, are you able to find out please, if the pub is close to a bus stop for Bury St Edmunds?

Thanks,

Jock. :)

Ram meadow car park is an aire right in the centre of town. £2.30 per 24 hours. Excellent location in a beautiful town. Easy to get to from Rougham.

Yes, I am very familiar with Google Maps thanks, but they are not as up to date as info gleaned by the man on the spot, ie, the bus service may have been terminated in recent weeks/months. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

will try to check for you mate, weve just come out of the pub, great atmosphere, there's a bikers party there tonight in the outside marquee, quite a few big bikes ( i just about know one end from the other, so dont ask me what type they are, theyre just big and black with shiny bits - the bikes i mean !)

royw

not sure about them accepting dogs in the pub, another motorhomer (there are 3 of us here now) was sat outside on the benches with theirs and it didnt appear to be an issue, their meals arrived just as we left them. we left ours in the van, but mainly because he can be a pain when theres a lot of sudden noise and movement (bloody weimaraners !!!)

the entrance gate is prob around 11ft wide and the parking area is more than big enough for any unit to park, inc toads. nice little play area for the kids aswell. the member of staff who unlocked the gates said they limit the number of motorhomes/campers to 5 or 6 to give everyone a bit of space, plus i think it also leaves space for it to be an overflow car park.

The story always told in that pub is about a bloke who smashed his car through the front of the place when he'd been told his wife had been playing away.

Thanks Roy. :)
I have been caught out before, hence my scepticism, but your link really does appear to be up to date. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. ;)
Will be there on 21st will confirm for you :)

as others have said, the bus stop is less than 100 yards from the pub, i asked a local lady who confirmed the buses are still running into BSE but she believes its a reduced service at the moment.

as regards the site - the party music stopped at 11 and we had a very peaceful sleep - no road noise (and very little pub noise, though we did hear the motorbikes leave !!!) when i went for a short stroll to find the bus stop, i noticed the pub was open, so i assume toilets are available - that was around 9am, they might have been open earlier, if you need/prefer to use the pub toilets in the morning, might be worth asking?

all in all, i would HIGHLY recommend this location and we will certainly be back !!!

MisterB, do they have electric hook up??

JockandRita, re bus stops, we have an app called "Bus Checker". Where ever we go we like to check out the locality of bus stops near where we stay, also what times they arrive and the destinations and time of travel as well. Bus Checker gives all these details including showing the routes Give it a try.

No EHU but we didn't find that an issue as we only stayed one night. Of course different people need different facilities so for some no EHU would be an issue.

Just found this thread from another Funster

Dogs outside only. 24 hrs loos and water tap.
It's all on their website:

That's a shame as we wont leave the younger dog on his own just yet, need more pubs to allow dogs in.

They had a permanent marquee/tent outside with tables all set up AND a large screen TV in it, so yes it's inside but outside enough to take the dog in if that helps?
