Anyone been?
We are off to our first C&CC temporary holiday site this weekend at the Beehive field.
Any pubs worth walking to (that allow a dog)? Or maybe with a nice beer garden?
Any nice walks up to about 7-8miles round trip preferably with a nice pub or two on the way?
All suggestions gratefully received 🍻

I went a couple of years ago and was due to be there this week but it is just tooooo cold. It's in a brilliant location a 20 minute walk from B on A.

You can access the canal from just outside the site entrance so walks in either direction possible.

You can also catch the bus into Bath or Trowbridge.

Can't comment on pubs though, sorry.

We went a couple of years ago, from memory there is a pub next door. Over the road to go along canal, they do run some pleasure trips if you are interested, about 10 miles by bike to Bath.

Been there several times. A fantastic walk into Bradford along the canal. Can't specifically recommend any pubs, but there are many to choose from. If you like medieval architecture, Bradford is an amazing place to just wander. You can continue walking down the canal, too, for more pubs and views.

Thanks, 'many to choose from' sounds perfect 👍

Nice location, as has been said, plenty of walks, plenty of pubs. One of our favourite "days out" (for us)

See you there! We will be there tomorrow for the weekend. 👍

The Lock inn is unique, good food and right by the canal you can sit in one of the garden chalets or on a barge with food brought to you. Worth reading the editorials in the menu, basically we offer good value and don’t tolerate ‘moaners’ all tongue in cheek. Been there quite a few times and always had good food, vege and otherwise. Very dog friendly too and good vibe. Not sure how far from your THS.

Google says 20mins along the canal, seems like a reasonable distance for a first stop 😜

We were at THS there last month. Unfortunately two of our favourites were closed but I see that they are open now.
We will usually get a lunch at Widbrook Grange and spent an afternoon in their gin bar. Very cosy.
The dog and the fox at the top of town does good food and beer. Nice to sit outside on a sunny day.
A walk along the tow path to the Somerset Arms at Semmington is quite nice too.
Love Bradford on Avon. We would liked to have come back for next week half term but going to the Thetford bash instead.

Thanks for the suggestions, it's an area we have not been to before so looking forward to it.

Thought I better check on Lock Inn, should have done before posting, now has new owners and has mixed reviews on Tripadvisor. Shame was family run and quirky to say the least. Still nice location but check on menu and prices.

No probs, I'll update you if we find our way there 👍

If it's your thing, the American Museum at Claverton Manor is not far away.

Large car park and lovely walks in the grounds.
