30+c here today nice town and some good history.... wanted to go on the tourist train but they do it by languages and while waited for a while for the 2pm train was told only English on the 5pm tour.....? so that was a disappointment as it would have been nice to tour the town and it goes out to some vineyards....

Stopped off on the way back to the site and visited a winery and bought some nice wines and of course had to have a gallon of the slurping wine at €3 a litre ?

This hospital/hospice for the poor was used up to 1984..

Staying at the municipal site, only a 15 min walk into town but it’s expensive ?

We stayed on the Aire space for 9 vans, I lost count at 40.
The lumiminare at night around the town is superb far better than Chartres.

If you like beef (they do other stuff as well though) I can recomend Picu' boeuf in Beaune, all local produce and a very large wine list.

The aire to the south of the town is excellent. €5.90 for twenty hours, about 70 places all marked out on smooth tarmac. It’s slightly closer to the town than the municipal campsite to the north.

When we were there last weekend the barrier system failed shortly after we arrived so there was no charge. Otherwise, the system would have been: take a ticket on arrival and pay on departure depending on the length of stay.

The chateau at Savigny les Beaune allows free overnight parking if you visit the chateau. See HERE.

We love Beaune and always call in if we can. Savigny les Beaune's great and their huge collection of classic motorbikes, Abarth racing cars and fighter planes has to be seen to be believed. They also sell very decent wine! We also stayed overnight and were the only ones. However they lock you in till the chateau opens!!
