Can anyone please recommend a battery operated mouse/rat repeller they have used successfully in their motorhome whilst it is in storage with no electric hook up.

Many thanks

Steph

From what I have seen in other situations and researched, these things don't actually work. A more natural approach might be worth pursuing though if you believe there to be a problem.

I have used mains powered versions and not convinced they helped, yet another Chinese gizmo for us to waste our hard earned cash on.
Rodenticide kills em best, plant proprietary bait boxes out of sight beside wheels and check frequently to top up.

I have a 12v one working from the leisure batteries charged by solar. Don't really know if it does anything though. I also use spring traps but haven't caught anything this year. One winter I had an invasion and caught 18.

Having worked for 30 years in pest control, I can tell you that no professional pest control company uses them.
Then as a professional what would your advice be in this situation?

Seal up any obvious access points, if you can, remove any potential foodstuff, Traps baited with peanut butter if they get in, checking them regularly, if you can.

This advise, which I do follow, always makes me wonder a bit. Remove all the food that could attract them and then put out some food they like to attract them in

Hi,Steph
We had problems with mice in the past and bought a device to deter them?? did it work, I don’t know?
New motorhome now and whilst purchasing a Solar Panel from
SolarG2 in Tewkesbury, they informed me that they make them to order for all different Pests and Rodents
They do work, and he proved it using their sonic sound test bed in the workshop.
As the wifey has a huge mouse/ Rat phobia I bought one, no sign of mice, and now the birds have stopped using the roof as an airstrip 👍
Web site is PestGo2
Hope this helps

I bought a mains operated one a good few years ago as we had mice in the Motorhome I owned at the time. The device was designed for farmers barns running of 240volts. It was a complete waste of time, we caught a lot of mice in traps with the device on and active, so if something like that doesn’t work I doubt any of them would.

Hi Steph
I use a battery/mains electronic mouse and rat repellent device called Stop Mouse Pro - SMO I’ve had this device for approx 18 months and I believe it works!
My motorhome is locked in a barn along with a couple of cars, farm machinary, animal feed and associated farm essentials (junk)! Having completed two courses in rodent control I am well aware of what measures we on the farm can take to keep the rodent population down/under control, to name but a few- good house keeping, .22 rim fire, bait boxes, traps, terriers and a farm cat!!! Prior to having the SMO rats and mice could be seen mostly at night in the barn especially this time of year when they come in from the fields. Now my team and I do not see any! Furthermore we would suffer from rodents chewing through electrical cable insulation on the barn mains supply cables and vehicle wiring looms, now we have no damage,
The SMO sits underneath my motorhome and “covers” some of the barn.
You and anyone else on this forum are more than welcome to come to rural North Devon and see the SMO in action or should that be not to see any rats or mice!
I have to say that I am not associated with the company who supply or indeed manufacture Stop Mouse Pro in any way shape or form!

So you just place it under your van not inside?

Hi
I wanted to try and stop the mice getting into my motorhome and the engine bay hence putting it on the ground under my engine. The device will cover up to 140m2. However the ultrasound emitted is not able to pass through walls or room dividers. I could pdf the instructions if anyone is interested

Im going to try one we caught on mouse last year in our new van and three in the previous one. Luckily no damage except deposits you can and cant see all over the place.

I wonder how are they getting in, as I’m sure you are aware mice can get through a 10mm hole I do block my grey water discharge pipe with wire wool, rodents hate wire wool!
Because I store my motorhome in the barn where I know rodents are, for me £60 to protect the engine wiring loom and the internals of my motorhome was money well spent.

I have looked under the moho and cant find any entry points. In both cases the rodents seemed to be restricted to small areas. First one under the sink in the drawer no poo found anywhere else. Second time in pan drawer under the fridge same thing no poo elsewhere, none in double floor so who knows. Im going to storage at weekend to see if we have any visitors.

Do you fit winter vent covers?
