I want to install a permant battery charger but its on a 2012 Boxer. Looking at the battery under there is a framework of wires etc and this stops me from accessing the positive side of the battery. How do I get to the terminal to attach the positive side of the charger. The negatie side is clear. Any advice please. I am not that good with this type of operaation.

that framework can be easily removed ( it carries a number of large fuses ) if you want access. but you will need to replace it and work around it.

if the charger was not permenant then it should be connected under the bonnet to the passenger side there is a neg lug and a black cover over a possitive near the fusebox cover

Is there some M6 nuts on top of the battery you can use? Our is a 2014 boxer and there's plenty of connections on top.

Why connect to the battery if its going to be a real problem?
Any decent sized permenantly live wire from the respective battery will do the same job.
But why do you need the battery on permenant charge, assuming you mean the engine battery?

Got fed up of lfting the carpeting ,pushing the passenger seat back. then undoing the fastenings to lift the panel just to get at the battery while freezing my bits off in the middle of a mini ice age.

Yes, but why does it need a permenant charger.
If the battery is rapidly (every few days or so) discharging it needs replacing.

and if it needs jump start leads or an external charge hook up thats under the bonnet as i mentioned you connect to the points under the bonnet . easy access

It is a rare thing that an OP manages to clearly define their problem. I’d respectfully suggest that the follow up questions from respondents suggest that you also fall into that category.

Allowing the thread to take its natural course is most likely to yield information that may be useful to you. Closing down a thread is likely to result in the opposite.

you made it clear from your OP that you knew only a little about this setup; therefore the follow up from pappajohn and myself were to try to give you the most accurate help for your problem.

but !!

You could fit an Anderson plug on a set of cables once you get to the battery so you can remove the charger when you don’t need it.
Why you want to do what you do is your business!

Can I refer to the post Trickle Charger...Help. This clarifys the enquiry and ends my post.
