I'm a newbie
I am going to upgrade the front springs on my 2002 B544.
To make sure the correct springs are fitted I have been asked to provide a number from a plate on the
front axle.

If anyone has done this can they advise whereabouts this plate usually is?

Thanks,
Lloyd.

I think they will be referring to the front axle weight rating on the VIN plate.....top line=axle 1 (front)
No point issuing springs the same weigh rating as you already have.
Worth verifying with them in case I'm wrong.

Not quite PPJ, too line is usually gross vehicle weight, 2nd line is gross train weight then come the axle weights.

Thanks but they have specifically said not the VIN plate.
They already have a photo of that.

I should have said it is the manufacturer of the springs,VB, that is asking asking for this information.

I should imagine VB want the actually load on the front axle when the vehicle is fully loaded.

This is likely to much less than the permissible front axle weight shown on the VIN plate.

Re-reading the OP's post - have the original front springs been since replaced with VB springs.

In which case, there would be a VB plate somewhere, registering the change. Normally, a sticky plate next to the VIN plate in the engine compartment or on the side of the vehicle where the Hymer plate is located.

Why does the OP wish to uprate the front springs ? Is it to raise the raise the front of the vehicle ?

So, if there's no sticker/plate available you can't uprate the springs.
Makes more sense to use something which is always there.......the VIN plate or at least put a sticker next to the VIN rather than on the cross member/axle where its going to go missing.
In years past Vauxhall car springs where identified by coloured paint markings...different colour for different weights....great until the spring rusted.

I had a 2002 Hymer B544 Classic and always assumed the front springs were original Fiat equipment.

Perhaps Hymer do fit special VB springs on the B544 (with ALCO chassis) to level up the chassis.
