It's stopped raining, so time to fit the awning leg brackets that Mike (@mike mcglynn) kindly gave me.

Allen

Remember not to use them in windy weather can damage the van.

Hope you have sealed them and put a plate from behind, as you have fitted it at a weak spot near cut outs.

I think that the plastic clips would give out long before the body panel fails!

They come with a centre reinforced metal part. So it is known for them to pull a piece out of a van.

I'd be interested to see those.

If it doesn't pull out they can leave a nasty dent due to stress on panel. My dealers advice was to put them in the bin! Jezport is absolutely right.dont forget to seal the screw holes

I have them and had an awning ripped out with the wind. The aluminium awning legs snapped and one plastic clip also broke. No damage to the van. (awning total write-off though but would have been the same if the awning legs were on the ground and pegged)

I would not be without these brackets, they are more stable than having the legs on the ground as they increase the tension outwards on the awning. They are better on aires as there is no part on the ground so less for anyone to object to if you need some shade. They also avoid the problem of dog leads catching around the awning legs.

When we bought our new van the dealer point blank refused to fit them due to possible damage to the panel van. Van is a Font Vendome Leader Camp, the dealer is Caravannes Limousin!

They are good for many reasons but I have to admit I was worried about them on my last van... I just avoided leaving the canopy out when windy or when away from the van so I could take it in if needed

They are fine if fitted in a correct area on a correctly built van. But it's hard to do so..

Fitted mine with M5 stainless steel bolts and shake-proof (Nyloc) nuts with penny washers behind the nuts all sealed up with Vehicle polyurethane sealant.

We find them useful for a quick partial deploy if the wind is low and it starts raining. Would never leave the awning deployed when not at the MoHo.

As mentioned by Nearly retired, best for avoiding dog lead tangling
