over a Year Yay................
So we recently decided to look into a dedicated MohO tv.

upon a visit to the closest Caravan dealer they had on display the Avtex & Vision.

The Avtex although both tiny screens & in Demo mode showing the same video looked the better option & the more expensive option.

Head home search the net & find a better deal.......
So........

Is the Avtex brand the Best & worth the money or is there a better cheaper alternative ?

Answers on a postcard........

Not long enough!
If you get the avtex pro, you can record one channel onto a memory stick while watching another. Sound ok but not very loud.

Avtex for me every time. I bought cheap last year. Never again. Chucked it in the bin. The only reason my last Avtex broke was cos the missus sat on it and cracked the screen!

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
I'm not a fan of the recent Avtex telly's but their older stuff is extremely reliable.

We have the satellite version & its a good wee telly but, the sound isn't as good as our older Avtex telly.

Getting there!
In my opinion Avtex is poor. In fact I recently returned a pro tv and soundbar because of poor picture quality. Even the dealer had to admit it was poor. I then bought the new Cello smart traveller for £180 and am well impressed for the money.

We have the avtex pro and to be honest....chuffed to bits!!
It plays and records anything. I have a cable from the tv to my Bose wave. The sound is spot on. Through the tv only..it needed to be up to 53 to be of a decent standard

If looking to purchase a new TV for your van / motorhome be mindful that many of the cheaper TV's have a very limited field of view - meaning they are fine when looking at the screen straight on but if the seating in your van / motorhome means the screen will be viewed at an angle they are sometimes near impossible to view which is not a problem with the Avtex because the viewing angle from all directions is excellent.

Well tbf, I wasn't impressed by the attitude of Avtex when I couldn't use my 18 month old TV in France.
Basically tough so I wouldn't consider them again. Got one from Aldi and it's better than the Avtex was so chuffed with it. Avtex, definitely no

I confess that I am not an Avtex fan either.

I accept they are good tv’s while they are working, but my experience as to how long they work for is not great.

I wouldn’t buy another.

As for avtex, I think you get a funster discount.

We have an old avtex, a falcon satellite tv which so far is good.

Today we are receiving a Ferguson ...smart , full hd tv with built in satellite. Only £180 for 22 inch so will report on it after we’ve used it this weekend.

The Ferguson is Cello with a different name I think, what’s the point in giving them different names?
Be good to get a review on it.

I’d be interested in your review of the tv. We have a 16” Avtex which is great, but too small. The van was originally fitted with an Antarion 19” tv, which looks the same as the Cello/ Ferguson. I’ve put the Antarion tv back in, but
we find the sound very tinny compared to the Avtex, but at least we can see the screen!

Yes that’s right , From what I can see. it’s to do with the screen size that brands it Ferguson.

Our avtex is also a 16 inch but it’s now in mums bedroom here at home for when she visits.

The Falcon tv we bought last year comes with a sound bar to improve the sound. We dont really feel it needs it so we use it inside the house as an additional speaker. Not a bad tv at all actually with a 3 yr warranty I think it was.

We will also try soundbar on the Ferguson/ cello tv when it arrives today.

For me the crucial thing in a motorhome tv is viewing angles. I previously had a cheaper tv but only the person sitting directly in line with it got a good picture. Replaced it 4 years ago with an Avtex and consider the much improved quality and viewing angles well worth the expense.

Getting there!
First two pics are of same source (PS2). Same cables, same DVD (Lost Boys). First pic is Sony tv. Second Avtex. Out the box setting.

Third pic is the Avtex inbuilt DVD player again with same DVD. Poor in my opinion. There is actually more people in the background. Got fed up of messing about with settings. Usually out of the box isn’t far off.

Was impressed with soundbar but not picture quality on the TV.

The Cello has no DVD so all films now on usb hard drive. Connectivity is good with Smart/Android tv. Got a fire stick on it too. Viewing angle possibly a little less than Avtex although we’ve not seen it as a problem how we sit but at nearly half the price of the Avtex a no brainier for me.

Getting better month by month.
Conversly, I've had no problems at all with the Vision Plus 18" TV. Built in Sat receiver / DVD and plays films from a seperate HDD. HDMI input to view and USB to power the Fire Stick. The sound isn't great on it, but it gets played via my Bose Speaker, so sound is good, picture from many angles is good and for the amount we watch it, very pleased overall.

We are fairly new so not much to compare with but the 19" Avtex Pro and Sound Bar are in our opinion excellent. Although I wouldn't be happy if we didn't have the blue-tooth soundbar.

Due to wanting a satellite tuner I have been looking at various brands including Avtex and Cello. I have also come across a 24” tv from Sniper which is specced out as full 1080p, HD tuners, Bluetooth and a 2 year warranty. Has anyone had any experience of this make?

Just bought a new 22" LG, 240v only, built in sat tuner, no built in DVD but has USB. Absolutely brilliant. Great sound/pic. Had a load of vouchers I used in PC World, only put £50 to the TV. Had vouchers for Argos and got the LG DVD player. Tuning in takes 2 secs. Binned Avtex. It was a pain to tune but not bad pic, sound not great. Not being 12v doesnt bother me, I also have a book if it came to that.
