Hi, we have a 2018 Autotrail V Line,(Fiat Ducato based), and would like to fit a Mosquito/Insect Curtain over the Sliding Door which can be left in place with the door open or closed. Has anyone with a PVC fitted such a net and was it succcesful.

That's an interesting one.

I've not yet come across a permanent door net other than the integral fixed sliding unit which comes with most vans.

If it's going to work effectively then it would require a good bit of work to attain a proper seal.

The other alternative is to be a bit quicker at opening and closing the door while having a few spray cans at the ready :xgrin:

Hello, yes I did this in our Autotrail. Not an easy task after market, but perfectly doable. Finished fit looked excatly like the standard one in our new Sunlight. Contact me if you'd like more info, supplier, etc.

I saw lots of the new PVC vans with sliding fly screens and when I thought about it later they were all European manufacturers , so we can expect these to come in due course when dealers do their own version of new UK models they cost about £ 350 on the euro vans, I asked at the last show at Lincoln.

Have a look at Van Comfort mosquito nets. They now supply a net for left hand sliding doors(N/S).The only trouble they seemed to be out of stock at the moment.

There is this, very difficult to retro fit. There is another that is easier to fit, but I can't just find it using Google.

Edit: the van comfort one mentioned is this one, which is probably what I'll use.

This is the one that I fitted, as said previously, not easy but doable. If you want it to work and look good then it needs to be the correct one. Purchased mine from Leisure Spares.

Hi Roger, yes. The fly screen frame must fit square, so to get the height it needs to be fixed direct to the floor of vehicle, not sit on the false floor. I removed the width of the frame from the false floor, about 3cm so that it sat direct onto the vehicle floor. Also needed to remove some panelling at the top to fix the frame. Basically I stripped out as much as needed from the PVC, fitted the fly screen frame, then reshaped and refitted the panelling around the frame.

It's a whole lot easier when designed into the original PVC as the one in our new PVC. :)

We used a conservatory net altered to fit and Velcro to hold it in place making sure the door part with magnets was in the right place it was a bit fiddly but has been in place for approx. three years it cost around £25 there was a lot of measuring and trying in place but it has kept us mossie free around Europe, I still have a bug zapper as extra safety plus they are fun
