Are the Benidorm Campsites Flooded?

We are okay on Raco, no flooding, but some awnings took a battering. Don’t know about the other sites.

Torreta is, someone has posted photos in the snowbird group.

La Torreta flooded at the bottom. A bit of a lake across the bottom road in Villasol but pitches OK. Some awnings damaged and sat dishes blown over. Calm at present.

........lovely and sunny on the Algarve ??

There are plenty of uneducated people about. But a few less today.
I find it hard to believe that after having heard a forecast or the start of the awning flapping it wouldn't be wound back in. Takes seconds to do, although the wind does buffet my halo. :giggle:
If the wind starts at night and wakes me I now always get up and deal with the awning. It's a bit like being woken by the bladder; you know it's pointless putting it off as you'll have to get up eventually.

My hotel has a palm tree down near the pool !!
Looking at it now from my bar armchair
Saw some blown over in Majorca the roots aren't big enough for the size of the trees ?

The awnings in question are not wind out sun canopies but attached awnings such as the Kampa ones which many motorhomers use while parked up for a few weeks or even a safari room coupled with a Fiamma or similar awning. Not quick to take down and not necessary for normal winds but every year we seem to get two or three days of extreme weather which causes a problem.
I am using one at Imperium at Villajoyosa and left mine up.

We had just that. Extremely well made but the bottom line is they are only as good as the anchor and a few inches of metal into soft ground is their limitation. Worse, if up for weeks, the rocking of the van as you get in and out will loosen them bit by bit.

Think about it, how many times have you really struggled to pull a peg out ?

Totally agree, I left my lightweight Kampa awning up last night but the pegs were getting quite loose during the night and I had to keep banging them back in or change position. More wind forecast tonight so took the awning down and the pegs which were difficult to knock in I could pull out by hand. Here for another 5 weeks so will put it back up on a Wednesday.

trouble with the pitches at imperium is that when it rains they get soggy. then when it’s sunny they are rock hard.

For those who have never had a CARAVAN awning, Believe me, when it starts to blow you do NOT take them down, Extra Pegs and Straps. but trying to take them down is like trying to fold a Parachute in a gale!. Many years ago I saw it happening on a campsite, husband and wife where attempting to take down an awning in a wind, Without the efforts of us 6 guys who went to their aid they would have lost it completely. There was also the incident of an R-V awning that went over the top of the R-V (or almost did) At Americana one year. I believe it was actually cut away to prevent more damage?.
