We take delivery next Friday of our new 2015 Chausson 718, and I can't recall seeing a smoke alarm or a CO alarm in the demonstrator, nor are they mentioned in any Chausson literature. I thought the fitting of these alarms had been mandatory in new motorhomes since 2011, but does this maybe only apply to British made vehicles?

Mmmmmm, good question. Can't ever remember seeing any fitted?

All UK vans have to have them fitted if they want to be NCC approved.

I certainly had a smoke detector factory fitted in my 2011 Autotrail. This was added to by me with a CO2 detector.

after sending all that money it wont brake the bank at abut £12 each
bill

Our new Chausson 2014 (Ford chassis) didn't have either smoke or carbon monoxide alarms fitted but did come with a fire extinguisher. We added the alarms plus a fire blanket.

Not mandatory I believe but as mentioned, on the personal level should be.
Having looked at the original paperwork of the present Autotrail, it was an 'optional extra'

Similar to unbutu's post above, I was under the impression that all leisure vehicles (new or used) sold by a dealership after a certain date, had to be fitted with a CO alarm. I thought the same rules applied to the fitting of smoke detectors some years ago.
I personally fitted and regularly test both. :xThumb:

Stay safe,

Jock.

I certainly will be fitting them if they are not there, but not including them as standard on a motorhome seems to be penny pinching in the extreme and very thoughtless.

2012 Autotrail Tracker just has a smoke alarm.

But I could not find anything that "states" you must have either.

Our new Adria didn't have them fitted when collected but they were handed to us to position ourselves. No problem with that. The last caravan we had did have both factory fitted and the smoke alarm was above the cooker:xdoh:

Get new Autotrail Imala in March, has both fitted as standard :xThumb:
