On 4th van so not a total newbie....
We are off to France next week, and just wondered what the fuel situation is like? not heard much about it lately so assume it is now ok?

Will also want LPG, assume that is ok?

Finally what are diesel and LPG prices like?

Very useful peice of info for those lucky ones heading over the water, unfortunately not us.

I use this french website which provides very accurate information including who has fuel, or not, and if they do LPG, and it’s prices.

We are just back and found it was a lot better in the last week.

Just returned a week ago it seems to me that the smaller outlets are not getting much. The larger ones seem ok. The only trouble I found if they shut off the petrol pumps the LPG ones are off as well. Suggest you top up when you can. The worst area was around Paris.

2 weeks ago we had zero problem getting diesel or LPG, and we were in the north east which was apparently the worst area for the fuel problems. Every supermarket had fuel, and very occasional station didn’t. Possibly 1 in 10.

Spent last couple of weeks travelling back through France - mostly in SW, which seems to have been least badly affected, but even coming up through Loire and North we’ve seen few problems. Occasional garage with petrol out, but really no problem. We saw bigger queues on the way down through the Midi, before the strikes even started, where some Total garages had queues, presumably because they were so much cheaper than others.

Just filled up on the A16 northbound L’Epitre service area between Boulogne and Calais, at €1.75.8/lt, which I make about £1.52.

Looks like things should be ok, we are leaving Tuesday, and heading down the coast towards Spain, will probably fill up at Costco (£1.75) on the way, so will give us 400+ miles buffer to find some.

Yes - fuel availability seems a lot better than 2 or 3 weeks ago. Most places now have fuel, and queues have subsided. About €1.80 for diesel is average price again. Not as cheap as the €1.60 you could get a month or so ago, but a lot better than the €2.20 plus that some garages were priced at a couple of weeks ago.
