So, campsites are open from April 12th but the toilet / shower blocks will be closed? Even caravan club sites?

(apologies if lots of other people asked the same question but i couldnt find anything?)

Nice. I was in a good mood for one whole day until i heard that! Its not particularly practical even in a motorhome if you want to stay more than 1 night - unless you've got a fully serviced pitch. And you enjoy cleaning out the casette.

Last July I had a booking at Grafham Water CAMC. Their facilities were out of action due to a boiler issue, so only self sufficient units were accepted.
Usual black, grey & fresh water facilities available.
So no problem if toilet/shower blocks shut IMO.

Why not... do you not have a shower and/or toilet in your motorhome?
Despite the negatives, using your own private personal facilities is far preferable to using communal ones.

Emptying the cassette isn’t the end of the world and is a small price to pay to be able to use the sites again 👍🏻

Thats what i was wondering...did the same 'no facilities' rule apply last year? If yes the club found a way round it somehow?
Last year it was all about capacity & social distancing, hence only so many allowed in, cubicles blocked off.
This time, the rules from 12th April is that overnights are only allowed in self contained accommodation.
Hence no toilet blocks is the current interpretation.

we have a rally booking on a club site. The facilities block is closed for the first month pending advice from above

Date will not be confirmed until a week before, and what happens between then and now,
Any dates beyond 8 March are only provisional.

some one on facebook group tried to book with park resorts for a tiouring pitch and were refused but offered a static or chalet
Parkdean resorts have taken a booking from us for 15/04/2021. Maybe let them know they can if they prefer to book with them obviously if in a similar location.

all over 40s will be offered a vaccine by easter, and there is talk of offering a million jabs a day in the next few weeks. I think we could take the risk of opening the toilet blocks now?

One of the joys of having a MH is NOT having to use the site facilities. Cassette emptying is really not a hassle, especially if you use the right chemical, in which case it’s almost odour-free.

This might be turning into a toilet thread! ☢️

There‘ll be someone from the SOG owners group along in a minute...

all part of lifes rich tapestry i guess...for me one of the great joys of motorhoming is not having to pack away anything that might topple over, take off the cab bunk and window blinds, drive to the toilet block, empty and fill up with water and return to my plot. Just so there is enough water to have a shower. Point taken about Aires / Stellplatz...but i would probably go there for 1 or 2 nights, not a week
