My friend has fitted one at the rear of a coach built but wants to T into the fuel tank.

1. Anyone done this given the fuel tank is at the front
2. Will it pull the fuel all thr way to the rear 7m
3. Where did you make the connection and with what. It hard plastic tubing. Some YouTubes showing inserting into top of fuel tank but loom a bit dodgy

Advice appreciated

Not bothered to link to tank on mine but I gather there is a spare port on top of fuel tank? Possible breather tube?

I would have thought you could just tee into diesel pipe because it would be pressured from the pump in the tank and when engine not running it would be able to pull fuel through tank pump.

our fitted deiselheater was connected so that it would not pull deisel if the the tank was less than 1/3 full so as not to leave the tank empty. found this out one very cold night when we had no electric.

I know off a guy that fitted a diesel heater to a self build. He tapped into the fuel outlet pipe from the tank rather than a separate feed from the tank. This is not to be recommended as it caused problems with the fuel system.
As suggested some vehicles have an extra port on the fuel sender unit on top of the tank.
The only problem I can see with the separate tank that’s comes with some kits is the risk of spillage. There’s nothing worse than the smell of diesel in the wrong place.

I did mine by removing the fuel pump/sender unit and fitted the Eberspacher pickup pipe to ensure that a 1/4 tank of fuel could not be used.
When drilling the hole I put a aerosol can cap inside the tank to catch the swarf.
The fuel pump was fastened to the chassis and the length of pipe was not an issue for it to self prime
