Android 7.0 is now being released to certain Google devices, including mine. :)

Or should that be... including mine.

I know there will be a 7.01 released days later, then eventually a 7.1 and so on, because that's what happened to the earlier versions, 5.0 and 6.0

But I'm a sucker for new toys so I'm looking forward to it. :)

Im looking forward to it too lol, but it took Samsung til March this year to release Marshmallow to my Note5 so im guessing about the same time next year for Nougat for me , and apparently Nexus 7 isnt getting it!

Spell check....

I have tried it on LG G3, just splits the screen in half, not really that useful.

I'm very tempted tbh, but im satisfying myself with custom launchers for now, much easier to manage especially when you have no internet in deepest darkest gods country lol.

Back sooner than I thought! It started downloading then quickly stopped and now no notifications about 7 are visible. Odd.

And it has happened! Not much to report really. Visually it looks almost identical to 6 though the little messages which come up are slightly different.

The Settings screen shows a bit more detail:

That page shows the biggest surprise as the storage figure before the upgrade was over 8Gb but it is now under 7Gb. Not sure if it will stay this low but if true the new OS seems to be much more efficient on memory.

And that's it for the moment, it seems to have gone smoothly and I'm struggling to see much of a difference - but perhaps that is a good sign? :)

Continuing my monologue...:)

I've got the split screen thing to work. A long press on the previous apps button (the square one on the bottom right of the screen, which then changes shape) brings up this:

Note some apps say "may not work in split screen" and others, like CamperContact say they won't work this way.

You can scroll through the apps then with a long press select the one you want. Here I've selected Gmail.

Both windows behave just like they would full screen.

Just need to work out when you would need this. :)

What tablet do you have?
A Nexus 9. Reading a bit on the web today a huge problem Google have is of all the non-Google devices out there only a few get updates, and critically this includes security updates which Google now push out monthly I believe.

Having a Google device means you are generally first in the queue for updates, though 7 isn't going out to all Google devices.

Here's an example of an app which doesn't like the split screen, BBC Weather app isn't displaying properly. I guess the display isn't scaling correctly.

That's annoying, hopefully they will sort it but Android 7 couldn't have come as a surprise to them. Just tried iPlayer radio and downloads work on that.
