Through Safeguard for some years I have had MH insurance Underwritten by Allianz..

This coming year's renewal quote from Safeguard is for insurance underwritten by Highway Insurance Company Ltd.

I have done researchon the internet and discovered that Allanz's MH insurance has been taken over by LV(Luncheon Vouchers) Liverpool Victoria, of which Highway is a subsidiary.

Can anyone please throw more light on

a) The takeover and reasons?

b) Have Highway been doing MH insurance for long?

c) Has anyone any experience of Highway?

The premium has dropped a little but some excess, e.g. windscreen replacement, has gone from £100 to £300. Not a deal breaker.

Any information welcomed

Geoff

Our quote from Safegard which came today up £2 on last year
8000 miles total 2000 eu
Don't think I will bother shopping around this year

I yesterday renewed my insurance with safeguard got all the bits and bobs as usual,12000miles unlimited time in Europe £ 455 a 2018 75-2.
I also looked at about 12 other brokers, just went round and round.

Yes
Not looking like we will manage to get over that this year
May need to up the figure for next
£312
Blimey, wouldn't suit us. Just back from 5000 miles round Italy/Greece since April. Off again in September, another potential 3/4000 European miles. Total UK miles likely to be 800, i.e. twice to Newhaven or Dover and back!

Not suiting us ether :(
Hope to be better organised by next year
Had a fair number of nights away this year but not travel any big distances yet
Alps in the pipeline though

I had a 4x4 pickup insured with highway, came to renewal and they declined to quote so had to change. next firm wanted to jump from £500 fully comp to nearly £3000 on renewal, turns out the vehicle is now classed as high risk. now insured with nfu for about £300

insurance prices are just crazy

I had been with Safeguard for around 7 years until this year as renewal shot up, will try again next year as new customer might get discount ?

Which Underwriter's policy were they quoting on?

Were there no changes to policy conditions?

'Unlimited time in Europe' - with no time limit per trip?

Which years? Through which broker? What percentage increase?

Geoff
This year. With Safeguard. An increase of around 70% and this was after the discounts offered were taken into account, without the discounts my premium would have been double. The only change to my policy was that it was now underwritten by Highway. Now back with Comfort. No brainer !

We're are safeguard but they've recently informed us that due to a change in underwriters (LV) we will no longer be able to get fulltime insurance. This was only highlighted to us due to the recent issues we had with a 3rd party claim. We rent our house out which previously wasn't an issue as all they needed was an address in our name. Why the hell do they keep changing the goal posts. We're no more a risk than we were last year, just more bloody agg for the punters.

I have just gone back to Safeguard after a year with Caravan Guard and ours is with AXA.

I’ve just renewed with safeguard and the policy even though underwritten by highway is still exactly the same as last year although they have changed breakdown recovery from RAC to AA. I did ensure I asked the question had anything changed as a few people on here have said it had and the agent assured me that nothing has

I’ve just renewed with safeguard 54 pound cheaper than last year.
