Hi Guys,
I would like Compile a list of Airfields that have some form of camping permitted please list any you have visited in the last 2 years and I will chat to the powers that be.
I will start it off with
Compton Abbis
Dunkeswell
Breighton, used to not sure if they do now
Branscombe

Andreas airfield, Isle of Man, good for TT and MGP fortnights. Not an agent, just use to fly there.

We were at an old airfield lorger meet 2 yrs ago. Gerry will give you the info.

Does it include microlight grass strips?

Didn't stay there but I'm pretty sure Nothrepps at Cromer does camping. Same with Husbands Bosworth in Leicestershire and Old Warden home of the Shuttleworth collection.

There has been camping at Shuttleworth during events for a couple of years.
During the crisis they held the worlds first drive in air show with camping last month. Next weekend they are replacing Flying Proms with there own musical evening. Again there is camping allowed.
I did ask about camping at other times but they said it would only be for events.

Hamilton farm CL Stone Cross, south of Ashford, Kent. Great fun watching light aircraft, especially the owner's biplane!

Breighton did if you join the Real Airplane Club. But that’s unlikely unless you are flying there!

Real Aeroplane company offer museum membership which permits you on the field to wander amongst the aircraft, you do not need to fly in. I will be checking to see what they stance is re motorhomes in due course, this will be a winter project.

Gliding clubs are a good bet because they have glider trailers and caravans/MHs owned by members who park for season as their accomodation while 2-3days gliding, so an extra MH will not benoticed.

Not be noticed by who?. Surely you aren't suggesting just parking there and not telling anyone!. Gliding clubs are usually very friendly but you need to ask apart from anything else theres a lot of fairly dangerous kit around!

You will be okay at Humberside Airport, only 2 or 3 flights a day at the moment.

Sandown Isle of Wight light aircraft airport ,
has an ajoining campsite , the Old Barn campsite , nothing to do with airfield but next door

I mean noticed by busy-bodies, the sort that might complain that the gliding club does not have a licence. One's MH could belong to a member.

The Landings at Langar. It's an old WW2 airfield. The parachute school is over the road and you setup on one of the old Lancaster dispersal points.

We were at Popham airfield having a socially distanced family get together for the last few days - no EHU but water & a place to dump £10 per night per unit.
They have just registered as a CL with the C& MHC which means it is restricted to 5 units at any one time.
They fly all sorts of small aircraft including microlights etc. on the same field they also have a very active model aircraft club too.
The whole place is very family friendly - no cafe at the moment but they are still serving takeaways on the Apron

I used to fly over for the tt (only 1hr from me) , you had to dodge the Pot holes in the strip & Needed permission from Reluctant female owner To land

also landed at popham for a flyin , had just left Sandown Isle of Wight

Used Headcorn on route to France many times , ideal for doing our flight plan , usually landing in Calais or
abbeville
