Hi. It looks like some aires allow you to stay one night and some two. Is there a way of knowing that before you get there? I have the Search for Sites app but it doesn’t seem to give that info. Thanks.

We have used Aires extensively in France.

We have never stayed for more than three nights at a time, usually just one or two, but have never been criticised or asked to move on.

2-3 days for paid aires is normal but less popular aires don't really have any time limits- a UK guy had been at one lovely spot for about 5 weeks when we were in France a couple of weeks ago.

Camper Contact normally states length of stay allowed.
They vary between 24/48/72 hours & unlimited, more are unlimited than limited.

When we stopped on one of the aires in France last month there was only us and a Dutch guy in a caravan who like the area so much that he had been living on this aire full-time for the past 13 years.

We check out Aires for a publication. Usually you will find length of stay stated on a board of some sort at the entrance or near electric/water and dump place if the Aire has one.

Never even thought about it, but rarely stop more than a couple of days but if we wanted more we would just stay until someone said different, nearly all free ones we stop on and never see anyone come round, so providing we wearnt taking a space someone else wanted, we wouldn't bother.
More to the point though is people with awnings out when the Aire is full, they really get up my goat.

We were told a few years ago by a French guy that the limited posted is only posted in case they get travellers on the aire so that they can get them off quickly so if you want to stay longer than it says on the board seems like it'll be OK.

‘All the Aires’ books will give you the length of stay on most of them, some Aires will have a sign-board up for info, otherwise ask at the Marie.
A French van, already there, might know but they don’t care, they will stay as long as they want regardless!
Whether the Aire is a paying one or free won’t tell you how long you can stay!

Thanks. We’re not planning 13 years! 1/2 nights.
