We're back at Puerto Lapíce, because ......

Martin wanted to park on this spot that he coveted last time but couldn't have because the "computer said no" 🤣🤣

IMG_20240429_115843~2.jpg

And he has his own fire extinguisher 👍

Really, we were very close so we've come back to, hopefully, do another nice ride tomorrow.

We have to go home sometime soon. We have things to do (tax, motorhome test, empty freezer) before we leave for the summer in ... June? It looks like the van paintwork might be delayed another year 🤭

A French van, escorted by the Guardia Civil (they're just across the road) were trying to get in for ages. Martin eventually cracked and went to offer assistance.

They wanted to pay for the services (emptying and refilling). They'd bought two tickets and were about to try again. Martin stopped them and said they'd need to pay for a night. They didn't want to stay, so Martin sent them to the "free" place.

They have two tickets for services at any of these areas. They didn't leave them with us 🤭🤭

We spent a quiet night here last night.

Martin eventually cracked, and couldn't leave a fellow motorhomer outside the gates (even if they were French). It turned out they only wanted to use the facilities (black and white). They'd already paid twice and were about to try again. Martin stopped them from wasting more money, because they didn't want to pay to stay.

Now, for us, these places are brilliant. A secure park up for €6.05. You can pay for more, if and when you want it. €2.45 for leccy and the same amount for black emptying and fresh water filling.

It's great to pick and mix. The only thing you have to do is pay to get through the gates.

Sooo, today. We went for another bike ride. It was, possibly, overall, better than the last ride we did from here. It was shorter, so we had the energy to ride up to the windmills near the end.

Guess what nationality was parked up there? We didn't need to see the reg no. to guess 😂. The guy was very nice (his other half didn't even look up from the book she was reading). Their T6 4x4 was a lovely colour. It may be lurking on one of my photos. It matches my jacket colour pretty well.

So, when we arrived back from our ride we couldn't get in through the pedestrian gate. We tried, and tried and tried with the code.

Martin eventually called the number, and, eventually we were given a code to get in (we'll sell it for a very good price 🤣🤣).

We must be this scheme's best customers over the last four weeks. We've had many, many, nights in different places in Castilla la Mancha, with very few other overnighter neighbours. We're still in now, but not authorised to get back out 🤣. We're going to stay for another day/night and then argue the point!

They can't keep us prisoner here can they? I know we're right across from the Guardia Civil 😨. Surely not 😂😂😂.

Don't they know I have a summer trip to plan???

Soooo. If we can't get out my plan is ...

Numero uno. Call Angéla. An Albacete person, born and bred, so a Castilla la Mancha local. She must be able to get us out.

Numero dos. Call Paco. Murcian Firefighter. Can pull strings when necessary. If not, he can come here and get the gates open.

Numero tres. Resign ourselves to being here for a long stay, if the previous two fail us 🤣🤣🤣

And, to add to our stress, we'll soon be running out of teabags, once again! We counted enough for a long trip.

We really didn't expect to be away for this long. We left home a month ago and met up with rb62 and collected the box from Scout. We're still travelling with the contents. Once we're home I'll report on where they go.

But .... we're still going to be short of teabags. Hopefully in the next few days we'll find a proper supermarket! They'll have some sort of teabags, I hope.

Today we decided to get out before the rain. We've ridden, got back, showered, eaten, and the rain still hasn't arrived. It's looking grey now though.

The guy that posted yesterday's route also posted a low level, village to village route. In fear of rain, we decided to stay low and ride his route.

It was "pleasant" with some nice surprises. A lovely small, man-made lake at the second village we visited.

We then crossed a Roman Bridge, and a very long rebuilt causeway, before riding for 3km or so alongside the motorway (why?). It was made more interesting for us, wondering why it was so busy, and where they were all going. We'll probably never know.

The final section took us back here, through more lovely flowery areas.

The people who arrived here last night (one at 3.25 am 😠) had all left when we got back at just after midday. We've given up wondering how they operate 😂.

Getting Better
I’m thinking of going around that way when I come back from Morocco next year as it will be around April-may if I have enough Schengen days or time… the flowers and spring blossoming is lovely..

Looking forward to the summer thread…🍻😎

Oh my god, Teagate 2, just when you thought it was safe to return to the tea caddy! :eek:

Glad to hear that you are averting Teamageddon by heading home, some things are more important than swanning around enjoying yourself

Thanks for all the posts and photos, quite simply inspirational.

Do you have another trike/repaired trike? Some of the tracks would be perfect for you. Especially the marked Don Quijote trails.

Newbie to MoHo, not to life!
We're heading home. A Year in Spain has come to the end. Now seems as good a time as any to finish the thread.

I will, possibly (probably) be doing a Summer in Spain thread.

Thanks for all your support.
Thank you for the time and effort that you’ve put in to this enjoyable and informative thread. It’ll be a useful resource for the future.
