It must be 30 years since I had long flowing blond locks. I have had very short hair that took no looking after. I decided that I would try to grow my hair again.
How do you all manage to style your hair in the motorhome?
We are at Cite Europe on the way home after 5 weeks away and in despair I went in the shampooing shop in Cite Europe to get my hair looking a bit better than a scarecrow.
Any suggestions please other than the obvious keep it short.

Grow your top layers out, even if you keep it shaped around your ears or neck if you have long layers on top it is much fuller and easier to manage

I've always gone for low maintenance hairstyles (long and short) so hair care in the MH is not much different to at home. I've found that getting a really good cut that dries naturally into shape really helps. I currently have mid-length hair and use a mini hairdryer when we have EHU but it also looks good if let it dry naturally (which is what I do most days - at home and away).

If you tend towards a greasy scalp then Lush's Seanik shampoo bar is great. If your hair gets too dry (especially at the ends) then Aussie Miracle leave in conditioner is fab.

Short hair can take more looking after than long hair - when you get up in a morning it's all over the place, sticking up, weird bends in it etc (my hubby's does that!), long hair on the other hand usually just needs a good brush and it's good to go (unless you want it curly etc). I tend to have my hair at a length somewhere between an inch below my ear lobes and about 3 inches below my shoulder, depending on the time of year, how 'fed up' of it I get etc. As I cut it myself with hubby helping to do the back bit I can pick and choose how/when to cut it and in summer I like to have it shorter, in winter longer (keeps my neck warm!). I also prefer to be able to put it back in a bungee sometimes when I'm doing jobs etc so if I go too short I can't do this and it aggravates me whilst I work. Sometimes I have a fringe other times I don't bother.

Have gone out in the morning hair uncombed (forget to do it) and shirt inside out....... more than a few times..

.....I survived......
People probably avoided you because they thought you had turned into a Zombie! :D

In the summer when we were abroad it was too hot to do anything other than wash and leave it, it looked a mess! back in the UK, we are often on hook up, so can use hairdryer & straightners

Good cut...plenty of conditioner...gas tongs or sponge rollers if you can be bothered..otherwise as said previously avoid mirrors!!
Alternatively put a bag over your head (not plastic...think of the environment)
Or you could just pray!!

My old papa went bald at an early age.
He went to the barbers for some advice & they said "sir you only have three hairs on your head".
Papa says ok, put two to my right side & one to the left to create a side parting, the barber suddenly looked shocked & had to apologise as one of the three had fallen out.
Ok says the old boy "put it into a centre parting" & again the barber was even more shocked as he apologised another hair has fallen out.
Oh well says papa "just leave it messy".

At home my hair gets washed everyday same on campsites in the motorhome but if we are not on hook up it gets tied up in a scrunchie, mine is shoulder length so it's easy to have up I find..

I’ve rediscovered rollers. The modern velcro ones, I got Boots ones. My hair is thick curly and frizzy if not styled using heat but the rollers work very well together with John Freida frizz ease serum and finishing creme.
I towel dry as much as possible and when nearly dry put in the rollers, they are so easy and don’t need any clips or pins. The trick is to have plenty of rollers, I have 24, and not to put too much hair in each one.

Good cut,
Nano keratin treatment - lasts between 12 and 17 weeks,
gas straighteners for emergencies.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
I also hate mirrors and other than special occasions I just want to not frighten the dog!! Maybe the word stying was an exaggeration, I think hassle would have been a better word to use. Wash and towel dry is the aim.
If my hair would grow faster I could tie it out of the way.

I wear my hair just long enough to put in a ponytail! Job done. The very idea of carrying hairdryers, straighteners, rollers etc., goes against the whole idea of motorhoming for me.

My hair is short now but I find it more difficult than when it was long. Up until recently my hair was below my shoulder blades and I used to twist it up and secure it with a simple comb slide.

I always use a hairdryer and a good quality shampoo and conditioner.

Long fine and frizzy in damp weather! It seems to frizzle up in very hot weather... sometimes an absolute pain. I like the idea of Velcro rollers, will try that! Wd really like to wash and leave but doesn’t work for me. Mines tinted blondish otherwise wd be grey.. and shoulder length. Have to wear a hat in damp weather and wear up in hot. Best idea wd be to take my hairdresser with me but ......?

If only. Mine seems to be stuck, maybe it grows quicker when young. I have no idea how I got it really long when I was a teenager. Maybe it grows inwards after 70 to make up for lost brain cells!

I keep my hair short since motorhoming, I do tend to wash it daily or at least make it wet if desperate as it is very thick otherwise it looks a bit frightening. It’s so easy I only bother with blow drying if I’m at home now or if we are on really good hookup but I have become very lazy about it when away now as it doesn’t look much different.

When towelling do NOT rub the hair, instead get a microfibre head wrap and it will absorb a lot of the water without you having to rub, if you rub you'll tangle and frizz it.

Personally I don't think washing hair daily is a good thing as it strips the natural oils out of it which it needs to keep it healthy, my brother many, many years ago use to go to Karate regularly and also wash his hair every day and became brittle and thin which wasn't a hereditary thing as only one of my sisters was a bit like that but it was down to her constantly dying it!
