ok, this video finally convinced me that A frames are safer than a car on a trailer! ( the first sequence)

Sorry to disagree but all the signs are that 'A' frames are seen in Europe as unacceptable and I cannot see that changing in the near future.
I also would not want to have my smaller car mutilated to fit an 'A' frame. Anyhow, with a trailer, you have no excuse not to visit a tidy tip with large trash.
As for the video of a cart towing a horse....

All that video proves is that there are a lot of idiots on the road. The first sequence you refer to is a simple case of a too large vehicle being towed behind a too small vehicle. Try towing 2.5 tonnes of van on an a frame behind a 1.5 tonne vehicle and you're likely to experience a similar result.

An framed car is still a trailer and the same could happen with a stupid driver.

Noticed most of the footage was East European where a lot of the drivers think a red light means go.:)

:pop: You certainly were;)
It looks like a badly loaded trailer that’s probably overweight and top heavy.

I'm so so sorry. Thank goodness that I didn't speculate on what the tyre pressures were! You can get popcorn delivered within 2 hours. Might be worth it if you think it will run that long

Ok ladies and gentlemen. Enough about popcorn.
May I be so bold as to start the stalled debate up again.. A FRAMES ARE BRILLIANT! super legal throughout the world and far superior to a wobbly trailer. :nerd: :pop:

I've always preferred caramel, but more recently found I enjoy salty. A mix of the two works really well. Don't really enjoy sweet. Anyway Alice has told me to stop licking the A frame, and stick to the windows.

So someone's called the Guardia Civil in Spain and have been told it's okay to use them, now before I would risk it I'd want to know what exactly was asked and especially how an 'A' frame was described to the GC (ie was the claim made that they are 'legal' in the UK?), and the exact wording of their reply along with who said it, what their level of authority was and most importantly get it confirmed in writing - I certainly would NOT take it from a third-hand report. I also wonder if the C&MC chap is aware that his 'private' response has been posted on another forum along with his name! This still does NOT get around the regs regarding one vehicle towing another which I understand is not legal in Spain.

Im sorry if i upset anybody but a motorhome towing a car just seems like a back to front caravan. :)
Well it is, except you cannot take a Caravan on a journey without the car, if you don't need a car at the other end. Also you cannot use a Caravan to run to the shops when your partner is using the car for work. There's a place for both, and having tried both, I've found what suits me best.

Economically I can see an A frame as better. A car to tow a caravan has to a large car and if using it for work etc when home it uses a lot of fuel. When towing a caravan it returns about the same as a motorhome in fuel consumption, but a little car to go to work etc uses a lot less fuel and cheaper to tax. Insurance on a motorhome is about the same as a caravan, very little difference. Road tax on motorhome is less then a large tow car. So I can see economic reasons for it being better.
