Ok maybe someone can clarify this
I’ve a friend who is adamant that if you sail to Spain on the two night crossing
Your 90 days starts as soon as you sail out of Portsmouth
I’m of the opinion that the 90 days doesn’t start until you officially step onto Spanish soil and get the date stamp on you passport

I believe it depends where your passport is stamped as exit.

That is , at the shuttle your passport is stamped prior to board boarding , so the clock is ticking.

If you are stamped in Spain on arrival then that is when it starts

Don’t forget that the 90 days is a rolling programme so you may not have 90 days left When your passport is stamped. Get an Irish passport or marry an Irish descendent then don’t worry about it.

What flag is the ship flying ?
If it's EU, then technically you have entered the EU as soon as you clear the UK 12 mile limit.

The bottom line however is you never want to push the 90 days to the limit, as a single flat tyre, heavy traffic, ship delay, or gyppy tummy could delay you by a couple of hours which means you don't board when you think you should and you are then over the 90 days.

Thank goodness Spanish Immigration Control at Santander/Bilbao don't treat the regulations technically - they stamp your passport when embark/disembark.

The 90 day clock starts as soon as you get the stamp 8n your passport. If you go via the tunnel its before you get on the train. The 90 clock stops when you get the stamp out.

When the new systems starts it will be all electronic.

Which time zone and date will French passport control use when stamping a passport at Dover?

Ans vuce-versa at Calais.

They cannot have it both ways - even if they would like to.
