85 cm Oyster Dish on ebay (older version) £300 ????

Given the control box is the older type and can no longer be updated, you would almost certainly have to budget for a new one ( circa £700 ) it is no exactly a bargain :cautious:

Good info / update !!

I think it's an oyster 1, same as mine.
It can be modified to work with a second lnb.
That control box can only find astra 1, which is no longer used, so you have the second lnb directed at astra 2, when it's found 1, then switch over to astra 2.
Works ok for me but seldom used as streaming is mostly a better option.
There's a cost in the additional lnb and switching box but could be a good buy for someone.

When was the last time you used it like that?
We had the same Oyster 1 set up with two lnbs but last year or so it became totally defunct and we have now binned it

I used to just select Astra 1 once lock on then manually tune it to Astra 2. Very easy to do

I last used it at the begining of March and it was working ok, on that occasion it was blowing a hooley so had put it down due to the wind.

if you have binned it completely, is it for sale very cheap? i would be interested if it is ....

From memory once lock on Astra 1.
You go to manual tuning then select say sky news
And I think it was about 4 clicks down and about 4 clicks left.

Sorry it is binned.

When Oyster Vision 1 became unsupported( this is the one in the advert , having a map of the world on the control box) we decided to get rid rather than mess about at considerable expense to get an upgrade. It was already about 15 years old.
This old thread has some info about it, which I had confirmed at the time both by Oyster and another company.

No probs. I was going to see if I could convert the mechanism into a solar panel sun tracker. Best wishes

I have the same system on the van ,it works ok finds A1 then Manually select A2 by pressing arrow key to get 28.2 . Press set (ok) next time up it finds it no probs .

But not using it and when I get time I will be taking it off.
Before lockdown there was someone who wanted it on here but can't remember who .

Same here on the system we have inherited, set up by Jackson Leisure. It seeks Astra 1 on button A, and once locked on, selecting button B (second LNB) brings in Astra 2. :)

A few days ago, when messing about. It works a treat. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

That is the system we had, done by Jackson Leisure.
Maybe I misunderstood the information both they and Oyster gave me personally at the time that Oyster Vision 1 became unsupported.

Would I advise anyone to buy the system advertised on eBay? No.
