Hi
Back in April this year after many years of dreaming, a few months of lightening our load we finally packed up work, loaded our house on wheels and crossed the channel to start our new life on the road.
We didn't get off to the best of starts. After just 3 nights we were robbed of our 4 bikes in Wissant. (This has already been reported on this site by a funster we met shortly afterwards) and the events of that night are a distant memory now.
We are now 4 months in and are really enjoying our new life.

Looking forward to chatting to you on this site over the coming months/years

Sounds as though you are having a great time. Where have you been so far?

Cheers, Mike

I remember the post about your bikes. It sounded a dreadful experience as it was not just the loss of the bikes. Very glad to read that you have put it behind you.

Hi and :welcomesign:.
Theft of your bikes was an awful start but glad it didn't put you off.
Enjoy your new adventure.

We are Mike.
Started off visiting a lot of the WW1 sites around Arras, Amiens, Bapaume, Albert etc then headed for Normandy. Stayed at Cabourg a week or so with the intention of travelling the coastline and then round Brittany but the weather turned for the worse so decided to head for some sunshine and ended up in the Dordogne region. Absolutely loved the area, we toured round quite a bit.
Then off to the Atlantic coast via the Gironde then the Arcachon basin before heading to where we are now via Bayonne.
No plan just making it up as we go.

Sounds great! It is one of the real joys of having a motorhome - whether full-timing, or just holidaying - that you can make it up as you go along. And in particular, follow the weather.

When we travel to the continent - usually just for four or five weeks at a time - we have an outline plan of what we might like to do and where to go. But in reality, we change our plans on a whim and are always on the lookout for some warmth and sunshine.

Have a great time!
