i want to use it in the house with a router because i have quite a few things running on it

I’m on three and use a Huawei B535 router, I’m using it the motorhome with a MiMo antenna on the roof and it worked really well in a bungalow.

I would suggest you try the carrier with the best signal at home, ie try a 3 sim out at home before committing to a contract.

We gave up our BT landline and broadband about 6 years ago and between our two phones ( personal hotspot enabled) and a huawei mifi, we cover Vodafone, EE and 3 so never stuck for a wifi signal.

Also helps with coverage wherever we are in the MH, UK or abroad.

out of interest how do you determine the best provider?we tried to survive with a virgin mobile sim in an old phone at home and found to much buffering to watch tv

Initially, check what each carrier claims for your postcode/street. If you live out in the sticks, check by their online coverage map as each postcode could cover a large area.

Then physically check the coverage. When we were considering going landline free, we asked any visitors, inc delivery men etc to check the coverage on their phones. You can run speed tests on mobiles.

Most major carriers have third party's that use their signal such as Asda, Tesco, smarty, superdrug etc. You should be able to get a PAYG or monthly contract sim from them to physically try before committing.

Good Luck.

I only have mobile WiFi at home or away on the 3 network unlimited everything never had a problem to worry me ,sometimes goes down if they work on the local antenna but usually get a txt prior . At times a little slow but heyho.
To which I moan to 3CS and get a discount.
Usually just tether to phone but I can put sim into mifi (unanswered calls then get diverted spare phone)
I also have a solwise router/extender but can't remember the last time I needed it.
Firestick and all data all works fine .And suit my needs .

Yes, had it on the windowsill without antenna and got really strong signal, better than my iPhone also on Three.

You could get a 1 month contract with Smarty which is on 3 and not renew if it doesn't work well for you. (I'm with 3 on my Huawei mifi and also my mobile is with 3, on which I can tether, so am well covered for data.) 20 gig pm month for £10). But I do still have house broadband for now.

thanx all for youe comments, both my wife and i are on 3 mobile and when i tested the signal i get 47 mbs at the window so i think it will be ok to try it but maybe better with an outside antenna,
thanx again Possar

oh by the way 3 advertise unlimited data with the router

I got unlimited for £15 with free router, can’t complain with that

yes its £11 for 6 month and £22 after that 2yr contract

I am talking about using our sim when abroad.
My wife got 100gb with 3 for £12, but when we got to Spain she received a text from 3 saying she was limited to12 gbs per month. That means only able to stream from the firestick up to that. When she phoned them it was the same reply from their advisor.
I have got Sky mobile, with rollover of what data I have not used in that month. As of this month I have 64gbs in my piggybank to use which can be swiped over whenever my monthly data runs low. No restriction on usage.
We are thinking of Superdrug sim for use abroad, again no restrictions.

Hi s20 hymer. The 3 broadband home router can be used in the m/h when you are away with unlimited data so sounds ok

I power mine with a 12volt supply and not straight from motorhome 12volt which go up to 13.5volts

Manic. Did you use an antenna in the bungalow

I noticed that over the past couple of days the BT broadband has changed I was getting around 27mb download its now 68mb and 16 mb upload. Haven’t changed my contract they must have upgraded the kit. I suspect it’s part of the full fibre rollout. My mobile is with them as well (EE) it’s only £5 as a broadband customer and get double data on the mobile.

Don't forget to checkout the 'reseller' sites as they often have much better deals for mobile contracts than going direct.

Thanks for your comment. Our Sky router has to be plugged into our landline coming into the house, so we cannot bring it with us. We have a Huawei mifi which we use in the motorhome with different providers when we are in europe, so it looks like we need to buy a 3 broadband home router, which I suppose would have to be on a contract, and will find out if the unlimited will be honoured abroad. So will look into that when our Sky contract ends.

3 has a 14 day trial so can cancel if it is no good
