Hi

Thinking of taking the motorhome out for a run this week. Should help the oil circulate, engine up to temperature, brakes and tyres etc.

I also thought it would stop the DPF clogging up. But after discussing this and subsequently trying to find out further information, I'm now not sure if I have one. Is there an easy check to tell if there is a one fitted? Not sure what it looks like and reading forums, the 2011 build seems to be a grey crossover period. Fiat Ducato, 2011, 2.3.

Thank you

Quote from Tinterweb.......

All diesel cars since September 2009 have to be fitted with a DPF in the exhaust to stop this soot passing into the atmosphere. It's part of the Euro 5 standard for diesels but be aware that some cars built before this date also come with DPFs.

I had an early 2008 Citroen which was fitted with a DPF even though it did not legally need one

The D.P.F. won't clog if you don't start the engine.

Wipe a piece of tissue / kitchen roll around the inside of the tail pipe if it gets covered in black soot you have not got a DPF.

Just look underneath the van you can't miss them they are big enough.

I was under the impression that FIAT started fitting Ducato's with DPf's as of Euro 5, I COULD be wrong. but as has been said a quick look underneath will tell you.

I had a 2009 Euro4 3 litre Ducato. That definitely did not have a DPF

my euro 4 Ducato did not have a DPF but my early 2012 euro 5 Ducato does.

Had Euro 4 that had 2 CAT's, last van was Euro 5+ that had a CAT & DPF same as my Euro 6 has.

Steve and Pam - wiped a tissue around exhaust tailpipe and quite a bit of soot.

Attached photo - think this is the Cat rather than a DPF? Can't see anything else from looking under the side, viewing from tailpipe

thats not your dpf, a ducato dpf is twice that size and fitted directly after the CAT and has sensor pipe work coming from it
