bloke next to me...he has got 2 water tanks in his van. The 2nd is in the garage, and filled up from behind the cycle rack

he cant seem to find any use for it, apart from emptying it again...and neither can I...anyone else seen this before?

The first time we went to Europe in the van we bought 2 x 25 litre plastic Jerry cans for water plus we had 4 x 5 litre bottles and a tank full of water, 100 litres, paranoid we might run out. Everywhere we went water was generally available, most free some paid for. We were carrying the excess for no reason as it turned out. We let them empty and just kept the drinking water 2x5litres plus the tank. Never ran short of water. (y)

Maybe a linked pipe with stop tap to his main tank so he has a much larger water reserve on site or perhaps the previous owner spent extended periods 'off grid'
Just because its there doesn't mean he has to travel with water in it.

A very silly place to site a water tank, behind the back axle. It will put more load on the back axle than if it was directly above. If you were planning an overland trip across Africa or Australia etc then carrying an extra tank is essential. But in pretty much all of Europe a waste of space and payload

Just thought, a friend bought a van converted for motorsport and jet skis. His had a second tank for jet washing the dirty kit. He took it out

I know of some one with a rear lounge motorhome that put a 10 litre tank under his rear seats linked to his main tank. This gives him 70 litres of fresh water.
We have the locker space to do this with the Rienza. At the moment we carry a 20 litre container of water in the rear locker.
It is behind the axle but I think we have the capacity to manage the extra weight. A job to think about.

Thanks, he does have a fixed bed so the garage is large enough to take the water tank

I always carry an extra 5 or 10 litre container of fresh water for drinking + never know when the pump might pack up
