Thanks @Forestboy we have a small inverter too but I'm trying to get rid of the 240 stuff as it's more economical to cut out the conversions..

Can anyone recommend a 12v sat box.? I'm trying to get rid of the 240v skybox that runs off a small inverter ..

You will have to cut the 12 volt lead off the 230volt adapter and wire it to your 12 volts.Sorry tonka the humax looks the better one for me?...

I use the zgemma box with a better epg and a gift that does last the 12 months,hope your ebay box supplier gives good support .I use mine with a 3g mifi in spain.i bought a 12v openbox the other week. runs on linux and can get all the sky channels. needs an internet connection to work which can come from phone if you add a £3 adapter
