On 3rd van so not a total newbie....
I am after a 12v freesat box, currently using the built in free to air receiver in the tv, which doesn't have a proper guide, and worse can't get "Dave "! I have seen references to the icecrpt box, but there seems to be conflicting information as to whether this is actually freesat?

Any suggestions?

It might not work for everyone, but I take my Skybox with me, and power it from a small £99 pure sine wave inverter from Maplin's.

It appears they are sat receivers and some have both sat and terrestrial tuners.

Type icecrypt.com into your browser to see the full range

As far as I know icecrypt are Not freesat. Just free to air..
Any Freesat approved and licensed product will bear the Freesat logo..
Be aware many use the wording in their adverts BUT are still just free to air.
As you already know free to air will get same channels but there is no specific order or dedicated program guide.

My old business, Eurosat... Have the Manhattan branded products which are 12v and freesat licensed, Humax I still rate as the best.
Bush / goodmans / Grundig would be other licensed brands.. (y)

Why do you need EPG we just use online guides. Radio Times is good, web site is better than the app.
We use an Icecrypt 1600 works far better than the tuner in the TV.

Hi lenny, we tend not to have "structured" viewing, tending just to turn on and see what is on, we also like the Dave channel which is only on freesat not free to air. The tuner in the t.v. works Ok, but we are looking for a freesat alternative.

Same as us then, we just look at the RT listing to see if its worth turning TV on. Don't know about Dave never watch it but I'll have a look.

I'll check again, as we couldn't get, but have just googled, apparently it is now on free to air from 1st August!!

Looks like we will make do with the TV tuner, and save the hassle.
