Good afternoon to you all you funsters, if like me you are going a little stir crazy waiting until we can go out touring again I wanted to introduce myself, and the company I work for, and trust that this is acceptable and will be of interest to you?

Whilst touring Southern Spain in 2018, after taking early retirement after selling our own successful business we decided as it was a "little warmer" than we had been used to in the UK that we ought to get air conditioning fitted. It was here that we found the Viesa Holiday llls 12 Volt Operation Air Conditioner, a product I was totally unaware of despite my many years as a motorhome owner and air con user (having had the Dometic fitted to all my other vans) Anyway so impressed were we with the product we "bought the company"..no that's not quite right, although it is a line from a cheesy old advert (answers on a postcard please) we actually decided that the Viesa Holiday llls should be represented in the UK and so we became the official distributors.

As we are as passionate about the motorhome lifestyle and travel we wanted to share with you this excellent, new to the UK, motorhome cooling solution and look forward to receiving your questions and feedback. Kind regards Jeff & Debb & Rufus and Lily xxxx

As a new member and the UK distributor I don't think links are allowed.
Unless Jeff pays the subs and declares his company interest to Jim he will then be a trade member but there are strict restrictions on what can be posted
Looks like the product has been discussed before ?

Thank you for your replies, much appreciated, I will contact Jim and advise what I am doing so hopefully no conflict. And yes it does seem that the question of the Viesa 12 Volt Air Conditioner has been discussed, although perhaps the answers given need to be explored. ItalColven who manufacture the unit are a global player in truck cooling and in the leisure sector with their Viesa Holiday product, which has been available throughout Europe for many years, but sadly has not had a credible presence in the UK until now. It is the only option available to those who wish an alternative to the conventional refrigerant gas type mains only solutions. It is a tried and tested product that works very well at keeping the occupants in the motorhome cooled (it does not create a fridge effect inside the van) It is a credible option and is also far healthier for both and you and the environment. Of course we are not trying to sell as a better option than conventional types, merely as an alternative for those who with to camp off grid mainly and still stay cool..

If the claims you make are true then this product would interest me . The problem is the previous thread that suggested they don’t work well at all .

Thank you Irishrover, that's one of the few great thing about the internet, in that you can search online to find similar or the same products for less money, or you can chose to buy from the official supplier in your own country (supporting local jobs and the economy) and receive the best service, warranty and back up, we all have choices in life.

Absolutely Jeff....I agree.

I wish you the best in your new venture (y)

Hello Swifter, thank you for keeping an open mind, that is all we ask. As with all "new things" there can be a reluctance to become engaged with the product, and this we fully understand. It is always a good idea if possible though to seek the opinions of those who have experience of the product, rather than from those who have none. At the moment this is a little more difficult as the unit has only recently been launched here, and so far only around half a dozen installed. We are working towards getting reviews and customer feedback, even during these difficult times, and hope to be able to provide first hand experience (other than my own) for the unit. I am in the meantime very happy to talk directly to you and answer all your questions if you wish?

You have used 4 of your 5 free posts.... Time to part with your money and subscribe to the forums to continue posting. .

Hello again Irishrover, as I have already said we are offering you choices, and if those motorhomers who want to invest in special equipment to run a mains type gas option that's great, we have no problem with that.

I think In the other thread their may be some confusion over the product as some people were saying it was similar to £40 water cooling fans etc .
As I said , this product would interest me if it is proven to be effective .
If the temperature inside the van was 28-30 degrees then how much would this unit be able to reduce the temperature by ?

I had one of these or similar in 2008 by the brand name of Colven, it was fitted to a Sprinter conversion that l had built to my design.
As l recall the unit worked extremely well and the draw on the 12v system of the day dealt with it very well.
It is also an option for MH’s that do not have Cab Aircon as it can be fitted over the Cab.

I mentioned it before, but here goes... I am personally aware of a case of possible legionaires or similar caused by an un maintained evaporative air conditioner in a van. The occupants became unwell and the doctor investigating suggested that the air con was the cause. A little bit of bleach every now and then and it kills the bacteria, but most users have no idea

Thanks to Littlewheels and TheBig1 for the feedback, really appreciate it. Littlewheels really pleased that you have had experience of the the unit, it does what it sets out to do and offers a great alternative that works. TheBig1 as you say it is possible, and well known, for stagnant water to breed bacteria, thankfully in motorhomes very rare despite us carrying lots of fresh and waste water around with us. The Viesa thankfully has an automated feature whereby at the end of use you simply set the unit to drain the small water tank, and dry the filter, contained in the roof module for that very reason.

So---- I might have missed this?? but is it an evaporative unit or compressor type???
There was a 12v compressor a/c removed from our motorhome just before we bought it--- all the 12v cable is still there.
I cant help wondering how the battery coped----- bit worrying as it seemed to be connected to the engine battery---- good when driving but did they have the engine running when stationary ???? Possibly engine done more work than speedo shows??
If we fitted another, would a 240v one be more practical??? --- we have 3 batteries and inverter fitted--- it could also run on EU or genny (although that might not be practical with new law banning wild camping😥?

Hi Swifter, with the Viesa unit we are not chilling the interior of your van, but we are keeping you cool, by a process of evaporation. The Viesa will make you feel cooler as it will lower your body temperature relative to the existing temperature, it forces out the hot air in the van and replaces it with fresh filtered air, and you should use it with a vent open for maximum efficiency.

Sundowners, thank you for asking it is an evaporative cooler and this is why it works from 12 volts, it has a minimum consumption of only 1.3ah up to a maximum of 5.8ah and as you only use this unit when in your van (you do not leaving running when the van is unoccupied unless you are leaving pets) as it works on the occupants not the space. It will not flatten your leisure batteries as even if fo some reason you forgot to turn it off and left your van for days it has an auto shut off after a set period and also if battery voltage drops below a safe threshold. You can use the Viesa without EHU, generators or any other type of invertor etc. I am happy to tell you more about this great product.

Sundowners why are you not interested please?
We used them in australia and they increased humidity too much and from our experience they dont cool enough--- sure they did cool but with limited cooling and increased humidity we personally dont think they are all that worthwhile------- I would love to be proved wrong with the newer ones!!
